I never used the word (tenants).  Ad-libbing sentences is why everything is screwed up.  Where are all the jobs?  Interest rates for those of us trying to buy a home is higher now than when trump was around.  Fuel, power, food was lower with him.  Yet you all keep blaming him during this administration.  The gall runny for president had one simple job, keep the border safe.  Yup she did a great job, she let in over 10 million.  There's facts!  Too much brainwashing going on folks.  Left is blaming others for their personal emotions to control you all and it's working great for their plan, that's call Manipulating Grandiose Narcissistic Personality Disorder.  Have an awesome day!

As PozBearWI pointed out, you said "boarders" (a synonym for tenants). Possibly you meant "borders" but spelling counts and it's hard to know for sure what someone means, if he's using different words than the ones he may or may not mean.

Where are all the jobs? Unemployment is running about where it was under Trump's first three years, which omits the disaster of his fourth year, where the unemployment rate skyrocketed to 14.8% at one point, thanks to his mismanagement of the COVID crisis. That, the resulting collapse in prices for fuel and other commodities, coupled with a crippling of the supply chain as a result, threw out all sorts of economic consequences that were left for the Biden administration to fix.

Interest rates are high because all that screwing up Trump did set into effect massive inflation as the economy began recovering. Unfortunately, raising interest rates is one of the few things the government CAN do to slow down inflation, by making it more expensive to borrow. And note that another reason we ended up with an economic mess is that Trump kept demanding that rates go lower and lower - which of course was great for his personal bottom line as someone who borrows other people's money to lose in risky construction deals (like his hotel in DC), but low interest rates also meant that lots of people's bank accounts paid almost nothing in interest. (Again, that didn't bother Trump since he operates almost exclusively on credit and seldom has two nickels in the bank to rub together).

As for Harris and the border: that was not her "job". The VP has no job, really, except to preside over the Senate. Biden named her his "point person" to keep tabs on what was happening at the border but she had no legal authority to do anything about it - that's a constitutional limitation on the office, and it's idiotic, frankly, to blame her for not exercising power she didn't have.

Your "10 million" number is fanciful. That may or may not have been the total number of people who attempted to cross the border, but are you completely unaware that most border crossers (about 78%) are apprehended and returned? Are you aware that of those who are caught, the majority are on their second or subsequent attempt? (That means even if they all had succeeded, which they didn't, the total would have been far less than 10 million.

That apprehension rate is more than double what we had back during the early GWB administration - because between his term and Trump's, the US SMARTLY deployed ways to monitor the border (including more agents, infrared cameras, drone surveillance, heat sensors, and other means to detect people attempting to cross). We'd already raised the apprehension rate dramatically - but Trump, believing in symbols over substance, promised a "big, beautiful wall" that "Mexico will pay for". They paid zip, zero, nada, and Trump's wall is already falling over in places because like most of his work, it was cheap and shoddy and for show, like his fake gold toilets and his fake everything else.

But go ahead, kiss up to the serial fraudster who's already (a) settled the Trump U fraud case for $25 million, (b) settled the Trump Foundation fraud case by agreeing never to serve on a nonprofit board, ever again, (c) had his companies found guilty of criminal fraud, (d) been found personally liable for business fraud committed through his companies, (e) been found liable for sexual assault and for defamation of his assault victim - twice, and (f) has dozens of state and federal criminal indictments pending trial as we speak. Buy some of his "gold" sneakers or whatever other trash he's peddling to grift you gullible fools out of your EARNED money to pay his legal bills, despite the fact that he's supposed be "really rich". It's just funny to sit back and watch y'all make fools of yourselves, except that there's a serious risk that this charlatan may once again be president.

I’m voting Harris and Waltz and very happy to see where they take the country. It’ll be light years ahead of anything trump can achieve. He did nothing but bury the country in debt his last go around. No thanks, let’s create a greater nation, stop all this division and anger towards each other and reflect on all the great things this country has done for humankind and what more we can do.  Can’t people just come to the middle and agree that the extremes on both sides are wrong, that they don’t represent what the majority of people in this country believe or how they wish to live.  It’s very frustrating to see this country rot from within. Can’t everyone just love and let live.

Wouldn't that ability be lovely?

But no - we're mired in our humanity - one part of which is being determined to live our lives on our personal terms, which invites the descent into discord which you so eloquently describe.  It seems to be our "fatal flaw" as human beings.

Perhaps one day we - as a group of enlightened human beings - will get to that state of nirvana where we'll solve our issues calmly, rationally - but that day has yet to dawn.

Still, we can do what we're able to bring that day a few steps closer to reality.

Well, not all that much.

I never understood hurricanes either, when I lived back North.

The destructive part of these storms is quite localized.  While on tv they look like they'd swallow entire nations, the destructive part isn't nearly as wide as the graphics on tv indicate.  More, the destructive area is even more centralized.

Since the hurricane is aiming for the middle-region of the FL peninsula, there will be tremendous damage over toward Tampa (and those of you who are inclined, remember our friend Ellentonboy in your thoughts & prayers, as well as all the other guys over there), and the surrounding area, there won't be anywhere near as much damage 50, 60, 70 miles outside the "cone".  I put stuff away in the yard that might blow around, turned the patio furniture upside down, stuff like that.

Here on the southern East Coast, we'll get substantial rain - anywhere from 5 to 8 inches maybe - and winds of 40-ish mph, gusts up to 50-ish mph.  That's nothing compared to the West Coast.  I did take the car over to the garage, just in case the streets get flooded and water starts to come up the driveway.  A couple days ago I stocked up on groceries, all of that.  I have a "whole-house" generator (bought after Irma a few years ago - I'll never go through that no-electricity mess again), so I won't lose power.  The cable tv lines might get blown down somewhere, so I could lose tv/internet, but that's about the only thing I can't control.  If that happens, I have plenty of reading to get to.

So, best of luck to all you guys that have Milton breathing down your necks - stay as safe as possible !!!

I'm only going to ask this question: What exactly was Harris expected to do other than divert attention away from the task at hand, which was managing a crisis? I'm from Florida. Milton passed directly over me on its way from the coast as a Cat 3. Know a lot of people who were wiped out completely between the two storms. DeSantis doesn't owe Harris a return call, but he does owe the residents of this state his full attention and focus on a very massive situation and its response. And that he's done.

While people may disagree with some of his stances or agree with some inaccurate media portrayals, I cannot fault him for the attention he's given to being governor and directing efforts in a difficult time.

The only benefit for anyone is Harris getting a photo op. Floridians don't need a photo op with a candidate.

Well, a phone call isn't a photo op, And note that it wasn't Harris who publicized that DeSantis refused her phone call; it was the DeSantis team, meaning they were looking to score political points by bragging that they were snubbing the second-highest ranking federal official and the possible next president.

I don't know what Harris intended to say - perhaps she'd been authorized by Biden to offer additional resources, or maybe she was just calling to say her prayers were with his state. It was still a fucking rude thing to do. But then just as Trump threatened this weekend to cut off fire aid to southern California if it didn't turn out to vote for him, just as PornBoy Johnson refuses to call the House in for a brief session to approve FEMA funding, just as President Shrub lauded the disastrous mishandling of the Katrina emergency response as "Heckuva job, Brownie!", there is no depth to which Republicans won't sink in politicizing natural disasters.

@BootmanLA  And MAGA faithful are celebrating that.  Seriously stupid behavior.  If they didn't want to be considered Hillary's "deplorable" perhaps they shouldn't act that way...

And apparently no limit to how much you insist on extending your arguments and inflicting your views on everyone in a way that frankly becomes ever so arrogant and annoying. We're never going to agree, and it's like rolling in slop with a pig: You both get dirty, but the pig seems to enjoy it. Let's make it a point to avoid one another, shall we? I fully intend to since we apparently cannot put you on mute as a moderator.

If De Santis wants federal government financial, military etc assistance, for Florida, then Yes HE NEEDS TO RETURN the call to VP Harris. What sort of ignorant "DICK WAD" is this guy😤🤬??

Liberals rarely own their contribution, which is necessary for any reconciliation. Not much owning from our dear LiIBZ on this thread.

Liberals are hypocrites and lovers of fantasy facts. It’s all or nothing with them. “You either are politically on my side or u don’t exist to me.” Without hesitation. "Bye bitch." Before you can say anything they mouth off in anger and hate about Trump being "racist" and all that smear campaigning from Nan-cy-Hag- Pelosi. And you don't have to look far in order to find one of them. Many are right here on this forum.

Hey, Trump also hates veterans, but so do the rest of the Republicans.  They were never going to pass the Pact Act, and even with Jon Stewart mocking them mercilessly, a very few actually got on board to actually help veterans.  And if Trump wins, they’re planning on making veterans decide between retirement pay and disability.  Because Republicans hate veterans like all labor.  Why keep paying after they’re retired or too broken?

And that’s besides wanting to end the ACA with no replacement so we’re back to rescission and lifetime caps and pre-existing conditions.  Hell, they’re also planning on ending Medicaid and Medicare because fuck everyone who can’t just pay out of pocket.

Trump’s so much more than racist, and the Republican leadership are all just this evil.  It’s the bottom 99% of Republican voters who are phenomenally stupid.  Just amazingly dumb.  Like stump, box of hair, village missing an idiot dumb.

It would just be pathetic, but you morons are going to hurt innocent people who don’t deserve your incapacity.
