@nanana An interesting read.  I think there is room here though for us hybrid types who span both physical and virtual part of society.  I'll be re reading this a couple of times before I comment further.

Well Kamala did claim for several years that she was part American Indian. Plenty of video clips of her saying so. So is she black, American Indian, or mixed race. I don't think she even knows.

Nanana rather naively asserts that suddenly inflation happened and gave right wing assholes motivation, but there was no inflationary period in 2015, and my family were largely already held captive.  The bigger divide was much earlier with the end of the Fairness Doctrine and the rise of right wing hate radio.  The family members who had disposable time at work to listen to that crap were the first radicalized.  I was first called the enemy of America in Clinton’s first term by a relative who never bothered joining the military, and it’s been all downhill.  
 

There’s also been mention of virtual vs physical labor, but that’s just virtue signaling.  The difference is between people who paid attention in media literacy classes and those who didn’t.  Trump still lays propaganda techniques in a string, and they are readily gobbled up.  Again, the Republican politicians hate labor.  My family members are voting to die from lack of access to healthcare and live more miserably while waiting for it to happen, and without a deprogramming plan ready to roll out nationwide, all we can hope is to save themselves from themselves again.  There are no Republican policies or plans in Project 2025, the nearly identical Agenda 47, or the additional plans and statements right wing politicians have espoused that help anyone in my family at all.  Prices will skyrocket, availability of products will plummet, pay will crash.  And my family members are begging for it to happen.  To them.  
 

The nation is probably screwed.  A whole bunch of people in the officer corps in the military are now also trying to sound the alarm.  My family Facebook groups are a mess.  And you can’t get people to open up their eyes and objectively look at the world because they’re wrapped up in phantasms of what they want it to be.  The cities aren’t burning.  Portland and Seattle are pleasant.  Been there.  But my family members who see the pictures think they’re war-torn cratered out smoking husks like Gaza.  The country is great.  Better than 4 years ago.

We all have toilet paper.  That was just another of Trump’s myriad failures.

Can you provide a link for one of those clips? I find it difficult to believe.

This is false.

Kamala Harris is mixed race. Her father is Jamaican. Her mother is [[NOT Native American]] Indian. Yes, there are plenty of video clips of her saying this. Perhaps that's not surprising, given the amount of misinformation and confusion out there that she has to correct.

Oh, it’s not hard to figure out where you get your news. The fact is she has maintained her heritage throughout her life. PozBearWI is correct it does not matter.

like this one? Mindy Kaling and Kamala Harris' have mothers that come from Tamil Nadu, in South IINDIA....Harris mentions Besant Nagar, which is the upscale, ritzy schnitzy  section of Chennai. I don't think there's any part of North America named Besant Nagar. Does her race matter? No - but only to the section of the population desperate to hang on to white privilege.

This mishmash means absolutely nothing.

She can claim she's of Royal Swahili blood, for all I care.  She could have swooped in on a rocket ship from Mars for all I care.

 It's her proposals that I'm interested in.  It's her heart, her mind, her intellect that I'm interested in, and why I voted for her.  In comparison, the other choice has no concern whatsoever for anyone but himself, his mind is so clouded we need foghorns  blaring when he mouths his mindless insults, lies, etc.  This shadow of a man simply must not ever have the reins of government in his fat puffy hands ever again.  

Ancillary note:  when one votes via mail-in ballot, you get an email saying the Registrar's office has 1) received your ballot, 2) counted your ballot, and 3) recorded your votes (assuming you cast a vote for each vacancy).  These come over a span of several days, thus tracking the progress of your ballot as it's being counted, recorded, etc.

Here, there are parking lots all over the place where (temporary) voting stations have been set up.  

There's a woman named Debby Muscatel Powell running for (p)Rick Scott's seat.  I doubt it will happen, but by all that's unholy, I'd love to see that one hit the bricks.

While I have no way to validate, I am somewhat convinced that the "dead heat" polls are more a ploy to get the electorate off our collective dead asses and go vote.  Trump is publicly unhinged enough.  All the attempts on his life have come from within his party.  I don't think he is going to win, and I believe the R's will take a beating (although that might just be wishful thinking).

Trump is absolutely going to declare a win.  That's his MO.  If a guy looking like him accepts defeat, it isn't Mr T, it's someone else....  It sounds like grandpa Joe is prepared for this.
