hntnhole
There's one point that needs to be stressed at this regrettable moment: We cannot allow "the other" to drive us apart. We do enough of that all by ourselves, for a number of reasons that are not germane to the current issue. We must stand together as much as possible, taking part in re-orienting our local governments to the extent possible. Thus: 1. Join an LGBT+ political club, attend the meetings, and take part. If there isn't one, get a few buddies (men and women) together and start one. Always be positive in outlook. 2. Join your local Regular Democratic Organization (meaning no sexual component, just like-minded citizens in your area) and take part. 3. Focus on ideas that will have positive results next time around, and spend some of your time taking part. Personally. Bring others with you to the meetings. If you can't find an organization in your area, start one. Advertise it. More like-minded folks will start attending the meetings. It appears that some of us have a difficult time resisting the temptation to tear down others for their viewpoints, and that may regrettably stroke a thin veneer of self-doubt, but it needs to be turned to good results instead. If that particular shoe fits, learn to put on a pleasant veneer when it's needed. Honey catches flies, vinegar doesn't. Put The Cause ahead of any personal negative issues. Preparing for the 2028 election starts now. Do something. Forget about judging others for the minutia of their lives with which you don't happen to agree; it's wasting energy that could be better spent. When confronted with some issue, by all means get some support from guys that have been in the political soup for decades. When we work together, change will come. SFCumdog
It was resoundingly clear last night that the populace had spoken. Unlike Republicans, I still believe in free, fair, honest, safe elections, and always have. To do or say anything other than that makes me no better than our opponents. This was democracy in action, whether we like the results, or not. Sadly, this win gives them the mandate to govern as they see fit, and they will. So let's sit back and watch the dust settle, and see if half of what that loudmouth has said will come to fruition. He's got two years to do it, and then with the mid-terms we send them packing and make him a lame duck for the remainder of his term by hemming him in at every fucking turn. We can survive this.

The man whined himself into the White House and the majority bought it. Kudos to him for being an effective snake oil sales man. He isn’t the first and he won’t be the last. We can of course just choose to give up and take it. And to some extent we’ve little choice on the taking it part. Bad stuff is going to happen. What specifically? Honest we won’t know until we know. We’re aware a host of unhappy outcomes will occur. But do we now just give up and say fuck it? I hope not.... It is about time for the economy to shift as it has been on an upward trajectory for a long time, starting with the Obama years. The expected recession hasn’t happened. Yet. Putting anti vaxxers in charge of healthcare is going to lead to a predictable problem. One that might make the last pandemic appear weak and rivaling the Black Plague in scope. How will the MAGA faithful respond to that? If the economy tanks for the majority, as I think it will, all this is going to change “bigly”. And rapidly. The MAGA faithful are a violent bunch and once they realize how they just screwed themselves. The results of that will be, um, interesting. If the orange jesus follows through on his threats and we see comics and politicians thrown in prison, will we cheer him on or rebel? If Health coverage is suddenly gone for most, how long will the survivors take it before they rebel? Locally there have been a shit ton of signs reading “Don’t stop Praying”. In my head I always append “on your neighbor” to those signs when I read them. But that shit only goes so far before we have open rebellion, which might be in our future. We are entering and “interesting” era…. Senator Rick Scott of Florida has a good chance of being the next Leader of the Senate. Senator Scott has publicly said he would like to cut all Social Security benfits a minimum of 20% and to be able to vote on continuing Social Security benefits each year during Budget negotiations. Bottom line for this old man is instead of getting a 2.5% increase next year, I can expect a minimum cut in my monthly income of at least 20%. And I believe I and millions of other Seniors can kiss Medicare a fond farewell.

The sun will rise in the east tomorrow and we will all be here to live another day. Just relax and enjoy life no matter who the President is in the White House. NOT really possible to relax & enjoy life when your gay adoption, in place for 10-15yrs, is anulled & your children no longer have parents. There are a lot of pinheads out there that think they deserve everything, merely because they were born Caucasian American. Not only is Harris a woman, but her blood isn't completely Caucasian. I actually thought we'd come a bit further than we apparently have. Have we, in the West & the US, actually gone too far & are now seeing significant signs of REVERSE discrimination 🤔🤔?? In Australia, despite our 2023 referendum providing a definitive 69% NO vote, the Federal & State governments continue to ignore the "white" vote whilst they in turn are throwing money at minority groups & illegal immigrants, to the detriment of universal EQUALITY. Maslow’s theory of societies hierarchy, is definitely coming into prominence at a worldwide level.

He did say that, and then was rapidly, very rapidly, forced to retract it (the typical "I was misunderstood"). Social Security is the third-rail of politics because older people vote at a very high rate. I suspect that there's a number of things that they'll do first before having the stomach to take on Social Security.
