The Monarchy is a proven waste of time and money which should have been dissolved in 1952 (even though the deer, swans, and sea creatures, i.e., whales, porpoises, dolphins, and sturgeons, would be confused as that wretched lot have symbolic ownership of them).

1649 was a good year 😉

so will we not be able to use this website come July then if we live in the UK. Like at this rate all countries will be banned from using this website. What is the point

I have also read that certain VPNs can use your information to not only spy on you but also sell your information to marketers, thus filling up your email accounts.

At this point, I'm in Florida and I have my VPN set on NYC, and it has worked.  But for how long before technology catches us and the people in power find a way to block or limit our use of these VPNs.

What, are they going to make using a VPN a crime now?

I could not disagree more.

They’re a mix of not-too-bright paedophiles, racists, and enablers of those who abuse human rights. They implicitly encourage all little Englanders to maintain their horrendously out-of-date view that “the sun never sets on the British Empire”.

I don’t know what’s happening in this country lately, but it’s like over regulation means we’re not allowed to think for ourselves anymore. Maybe instead of a VPN to pretend to be in a different country, it’s time to move to a different country altogether…

Without the Monarchy, the UK would lose more in royal taxes than they pay out in the civil list. With the world in its current mess,  Monarchies offer stability to otherwise very shaky political systems. Although I am not enamoured with Chuck & his "bit on the side".

The REAL annual cost of the Monarchy has been estimated to be £510 million

Their properties are worth an estimated £14.1 billion (December 2023 figures). Additionally, the Crown owns all land in England and Wales; people own estates in land either directly or indirectly from the Crown (for example, a freehold estate or a leasehold estate)

Every year the estates of the royal family make tens of millions of pounds, yet they pay no corporation tax. They also pay ZERO death duties.

They have the right to preview any drafts of legislation and veto them if they decide they are unfavourable to them (the little-known Power of Consent, which effectively means that Charles and William both have power over laws affecting their sources of private income).

They pay godawfully low salaries to their employees (mostly under USD30K per year)

Exactly.

The last six months have been particularly disappointing. It scarcely seems possible that, after 14 years of the worst government in UK history, we should end up with one that isn't any better.

This matter of verification harms communities and not predators.

Search for "Smartschoolboy9" on the Internet to understand what I mean - SPOILER: predators don't use porn sites/communities to chase for preys...

Most folks have a laptop, for which they also subscribe to one of the 'security' companies that offer protection from viruses, hackers, etc.  Most also offer a VPN service.  I can't imagine anyone (other than a computer-geek) not subscribing to one of these services, and given the potential threats, also a VPN.

The one I use offers the ability to change where you "live" from - oh - say Fort Lauderdale, to any other major city in the world ... for instance, Copenhagen (where I currently "am" at this very moment).  It can still take several attempts to arrive at BZ, but finally it works.

Once the current administration messes up some of the larger targets they're aiming at, they'll get around to us, presumably.  So, I'll enjoy BZ - as I have for the past number of years - and hope the dullards get dumped in 4 years.  If that doesn't pan out, then I've enjoyed what we all shared here, and be grateful for what was.

I agree at this, having VPN to try resolving the issue in short term.

But the problem is huge, it's not pornography or breeding zone itself.

The importance is to speak louder, to protest about privacy implications and about the real risk of isolating sex related materials. It won't protect minors, it creates the, oh damn how to call it?

If the mountain doesn't come to you, you go to the mountain...

If before the risk was of minors eventually finding porn, now those dispotic/dystopic folks wants to make life more difficult to porn producers and communities. With the illusion of having built a wall to protect kids.

But kids aren't protected, because, first of all they're not educated. Sex AND DIGITAL education. And they aren't because adults themselves aren't.

Then? Given that minors have their presumed "safe space" of kid-oriented contents? It's well done!

The offender just walks in, pretending to be a parent, and like "smartschoolboy9" did, they can even become the one trying to educate other parents, creating trust.

And then... Then they're screwed.

All of us must participate into pro-privacy movements, I talk about Electronic Frontier Foundation because it's the one I know and often join, but even movements related to free software.

... Always staying with the guard up, because I fear that american current administration could think of declaring those organizations as terrorists.

As a long experience geek, I am optimistic and think that just death has no solution, when we talk about computers. But how long will we last? The most dirty-handed geeks are all about 45-50 years old.

The enthusiastic 15-20-30 years old folks are more passive than us, less curious, they accept what tech offers in immediate surface. But they seem afraid to go in deep.

i agree with everything that is in this thread, I do question how Offcom will enforce/police this.

This is a great community site not a porn site, but then what definition are they using clearly not the same one as the 1964 act which covers books, magazines etc.

a small vocal minority are causing huge problems just a sin the past when they got so called 'dirty magazines' moved to the top shelf and then into plastic wrapper so minors could not see them in their local newsagents, every action has a reaction and we are now paying a high price.

Pozauthor is right we need to shout louder and clearer, and parents need to take responsibilty not shove it on to others

Their properties are worth an estimated £14.1 billion .....

The Royal Family retains a significant ‘interest’ in the Crown Estate. Oddly, though called the Crown Estate, this body represents the most independent of the land holdings linked to the King. This entity is a £14.1 billion UK real estate business with a portfolio “unlike any other”. This entity used to be privately owned by the monarchy in the same sense as Sandringham or Balmoral, but was surrendered to Parliament by King George III in 1760 to help cover the money he owed to the British state.

Currently, the Royal Family does not officially have input into management decisions. The income from the Crown Estate is split between the British state and the ‘Sovereign Grant’ - (25% of £14.1 billion pound) , which is meant to defray some of the costs associated with the King’s official duties as Head of State.

Prince Charles and the other members are still required to pay tax at the highest rate on all their personal income. This includes Road Tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), and Council Tax on their properties to name a few.

I wanted to make a comment because its really out of order what's going on with this censorship. It's all about social credit scores and digital IDs in the UK. Nothing to do with protecting kids.

Should be free to do what we want. This site isn't illegal or anything.

You're entirely correct, as I see the issue.

We - gay folks in general, and practitioners of raw sex in particular - are an easy target for those who believe they can somehow exert control over everyone else.  It's not merely this website that would excite hatred in the pinheads, it's the fact that we share the planet with them, breath the same air, walk the same streets, shop at the same stores - in other words, simply exist.

Most of them realize that they can't simply murder every gay guy or girl, that would be far too enormous a task.  And what would they wind up with?  Nothing more than millions of bodies, with new GLBT+-to-be babies being born every single day.

The real issue at hand isn't this facet of freedom or that facet;  It's freedom itself.  This is what seeking to control everyone else is about;  freedom for some, and worse for everyone else unlike them.  Coexistence is the only way there will be room for everyone to share the planet.

The hatreds used to be more limited; to religions other than one's own, for instance.  However, the more millions of us there are to share diminishing resources, the more the hatreds gnaw at the minds of the selfish.

The issue of who's fucking who is only the mask; the real problem is people's propensity to hate each other.
