I think you are on the right track - we have always been innovative and creative in our campaigns. People who praise the Trump talk abut his unpredictability as a good thing - we can surprise everyone once we really get organised. I’m old enough to remember our communities response to Thatchers poisonous Section 28. So many different people who would never have campaigned before got on board. Each threat is different and we can tailor our response.
ellentonboy Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 People actually voted for this kind of behavior and actions, and now it is here. It's not as if we didn't have a clue that he would try to take everything apart ......we did. Yet, for whatever reason, we had a decent, viable, intelligent option and decided not to vote in the direction. The citizens of this country have no one to blame but themselves, especially those who sat at home and did nothing or voted based on race. It's just crazy. 4 1
Grschwanz Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 The Trump administration opened their first concentration camp this weekend and pledged to start with filling it with 30,000 people. Ellen 's Musk illegally raided the Social Security and Medicaid database. The reason is still yet unknown, but I'm sure it's nothing that will lead to any good. a veritavle response is going to require our community join with other communities meeting in person off line. it's going to require everyone to get armed with ample ammunition and to start training on how to use weapon systems. We need to start buying gold and hoarding cash. it's also going to call for restraint on consumption as millions of people will need to join together in solidarity to boycott certain companies. for example perhaps the first Wednesday no one googles, the second Wednesday no one buys from Amazon, the third Wednesday no one buys gasoline, etc.. unless liberals are willing to make sacrifices, we are going to be doomed because our political leaders refuse to do anything for us. 1

Us humans seem to have this historical penchant to have us relearn our lessons on how to keep a civil society going. But how many of the most vulnerable and maginalized will be lost in the meantime?

None of this is anything I voted for, but nonetheless it's happening. At this point we will, I hope, mitigate the worst of the damage.
hntnhole Posted February 5 Report Posted February 5 Around here, the protests are already beginning - mostly anger against muskrat's meddling. I've registered for one on the weekend - my sign will read: "no one voted..." (on the front), and "for a muskrat" (on the back). Don't like it? Downvote it. I don't give a muskrat's ass. 1 1
PozBearWI Posted February 5 Report Posted February 5 Small town guy here, still a dozen or so Trump signs/flags around... I infer all those folks are MAGA core. It is surprising the lack of outrage WRT Muskrat. My "how the system works" choice is of course to call/write my senators. I did. Ron Johnson gave the predictable party line response. Tammy Baldwin is MIA. I will try again, but once every few days reaching out is adequate. I am not tapped into Milwaukee like I was when I worked there; so until I hear of something forming down there I have no need to be there. 1

Each threat is different and we can tailor our response. This unity of society is best seen in the 2014 movie, "Prde". "In 1984 and 1985, Britain’s labor movement faced a moment of truth: A massive strike by coal miners in defiance of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s anti-union politics. As historical geographer Diarmaid Kelliher writes, the miners had a surprising group of allies: urban gay and lesbian organizers" - JSTOR Daily. It can be done but, first we have to put aside personal wants & desires & re-focus on the one NEED THAT is essential to everyone, FREEDOM to live without undue restraint. 1

Agreed. When I'm out and about, and hear someone bitching about the results, sometimes I merely ask "Oh? So how did YOU vote?" One of two responses usually ensues: 1: stunned silence or 2: a hurried blathering of nonsense. Cogency escapes them. Some folks are simply dull as a stone. 2 1

But there are quite a few of us in the "LGB" part of the "LGBT" spectrum who want ALL of us protected. Because we know that these assholes target the least-supported members of the group, knowing that the rest won't be unified in protecting them. Then they move on to shear off the next group - say, HIV+ people, or whatever. Divide and conquer is an age-old strategy, and sadly, it works too often. 1 2

And while accepting and supporting of each other, we don't have to pick "the" solution. For example, I am concerned about the use of some medical intervention early in life. I'm uncertain puberty blockers will in the long run not be viewed as we view electroshock therapy or lobotomies 50 years from now.
