I voted for Biden even though I was (and am) convinced he's in the early stages of dementia. I'm not convinced Trump isn't demented either. But I'd trust the technocrats under Biden more than the sycophants under Trump. A lot of people felt the economy was better under Trump. As a 50-something white guy with a 6 figure salary, I won't pretend to speak for people who are living paycheck to paycheck. I think both parties are mismanaging the economy with deficit spending and they're hypocritical because it only seems to be a problem when the other guys are in power. Of course, nobody wants to raise taxes and nobody wants to be seen as cutting popular spending programs. They had also been denied a US tourist visa twice before for unknown reasons (they speculate that their work on OF contributed to the denial but this is speculation). It's possible, but more likely the US has been enforcing a request from Ukraine to deny entry to military age men (admittedly a speculation on my part). So they apparently flew to the US (!!) and applied under a special program for Ukrainians *OR* they were under the impression that they had been approved under a program for Ukrainians only to be denied entry at the border. However it's not supportable that they were denied entry because they are Gay. -

I have been aware of Charlie Kirk since he was 19 or 20. He was a vile and reprehensible person. I despised the man. But I am disgusted with any political violence. I think it is reprehensible. But Charlie often said that murder is a necessary evil in protection of the second amendment. I wonder if he would have been okay with his murder? If Charlie Kirk had been in a second grader, sitting in his classroom when shot, the story barely would’ve made news outside their local area. And the subject would’ve been dropped within 48 hours.

It hasn't actually reached SCOTUS. Over 7,000 cases are appealed to the Court each year. 98% are denied. Even if the court is looking for an excuse to overturn Obergefell, this would be a bad case. Davis is essentially claiming that same-sex marriage infringed on her constitutional rights and that the $300K damages verdict against her should be overturned (she's also asking that Obergefell be overturned). She's essentially claiming that her faith overrides her duty as a public official. If the Court was to rule in her favor, then conceivably a County clerk who was a Hindu could refuse to grant a business license to a burger restaurant. A devout Catholic could refuse to register a divorce decree and so forth. In addition, even if the Court said that she didn't have to grant the marriage licenses, the relief would be ordering an accommodation (which the Kentucky legislature has enacted), not overturning the entire ruling. Plus, in her case, she's now a private citizen so she is in no way impacted by Obergefell. It will be really difficult for a private individual to make a case that Obergefell has harmed them in some way that is unconstitutional and that the ONLY remedy for that harm is to overturn the decision -
