Not a New Yorker, but.... Last year I went to this guy's apartment in a nice building and I noticed cockroaches running around the bathroom. I made sure not to leave my bag on the floor and I checked all my clothes before leaving his place. The guy was legally blind, so I didn't think he knew he had cockroaches and I didn't mention it to him. The year before I'd brought home takeout Chinese food from a restaurant I used to go to *all* the time -- and a cockroach came out of the takeout bag after I put it into the recycle bin. So roaches do travel. -
