    Each of the apps/sites seem to be more or less popular in different cities, and gravitate towards unique cultures in each region. Seems that I’ve seen more trans folk on Grindr and Sniffies in most cities in CA. BBRT tends to skew kinkier/raunchier/rougher. NKP is more chem-centric. Doxycycline is certainly less brutal than Cipro or Augmentin on the GI tract.     I was on prophylactic Doxycycline for three years because I had extremely high viral load and low CD4 count. I didn’t have medical insurance, didn’t qualify for assistance, and couldn’t afford meds. It was rough. Doxy has several unpleasant GI side effects. Probiotics and fiber supplements help, but don’t entirely solve the issues. Despite being in an area red hot with STIs including chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis; I was never infected. That changed when I later started Atripla and dropped the Doxycycline. Bottom line: It works but with consequences. Besides side effects and risk of resistant strains, there is also the possibility of developing a sensitivity or allergy to the entire antibiotic class.

    I’d start out with a drink or two at Tool Shed (leather/Levi/cigar bar). Thursday night is underwear night with free clothing check. Cruise the action there, then All Worlds Annex is only 11 blocks away (12 min walk / 2 min drive). Tool Shed is cash only. All Worlds Annex is $25, which comes with a towel & a lock for the lockers. They have lockable toilets to clean up/clean out, but you’ll need to bring your own supplies. There is usually a nice crowd of frisky guys at Tool Shed, but limited play on the premises. All Worlds Annex is hit or miss on the weekdays, and tends to attract tweakers — which could be good or bad depending on your interests.

    Good point. The 20+ loads comment was to illustrate that even at the sleaziest places, it’s possible to navigate the rapids safely. And yes, those were noon & 5pm play times.
