I was just wondering if there is anyone still alive today who genuinely barebacked their way through the AIDS epidemic of 1981 to 1996 (from the year the first AIDS cases were reported to the year that antiretroviral drugs were introduced). The 1981 - 1996 period, was when an AIDS or HIV diagnosis meant certain death. If you were diagnosed with AIDS in those early days, you'd start making your own funeral arrangements. No treatments were available to treat the AIDS virus (later named "HIV") itself (except AZT which didn't really work for most people....and if it did work, it only did so for so long) ...in this period, the only thing that could be done was to treat opportunistic infections as and when they occurred - and if you were diagnosed with HIV but not AIDS (that is, if you were in the asymptomatic stage) you were basically just waiting to eventually get sick. I cannot imagine what it must have been like with an HIV+ diagnosis, but being healthy, and waiting every day for that first KS lesion to appear...or for that first sore chest and bad cough to appear which would turn out to be pneumonia. it must have been a really awful time to be diagnosed with AIDS/HIV.

Because it was such a terrifying time, and because a diagnosis was very bad news back then, I know that eventually most sexually active/promiscuous gay and bisexual men started practicing only safe(r) sex (sex with condoms). However, I imagine there were those who just , for whatever reason, continued to fuck raw (baffling that people would during those horrific days, but there must have been those who did). I wonder if any such people "made it through" those years, without becoming infected. I think if anyone did, it would be absolutely amazing to hear from them. No doubt there are those who will say they did, but are lying (for whatever reason). But I wonder if there are any people who genuinely kept on having BB sex ....indiscriminately with many anonymous strangers in the pre-1996/antiretroviral days  and never got HIV? I would personally doubt it very much. And certainly not anyone who was living in the San Francisco Castro street gay village and New York City Greenwich village where AIDS was at it's worst. But imagine if there were such people? Wow, that would be so incredible and fascinating and would beg the question: HOW?

I barebacked few times during the early 90's and I was luck that I am clean. I went to a porn movie theater dressed and got few times corned and had my ass open to their cocks until they drop their loads inside me. One time got two loads, one after another, in a corned of the movie theater called "little hell" which had a lot pos guys and negs barebacking. Also, I suck and drunk a lot cum during 90's in movie theaters, my record was over 20, no status asked, all anon...

Next month, I will celebrate 40 years as a total, devout and unapologetic barebacker.  I'm one who didn't get through that period unscathed, but being POZ has never defined me.  Some may question my recklessness, but I've always lived my life on my own terms and I regret nothing.

Hoping for a revival ASAP. So much AIDS nostalgia these days -- like the 120 Beats Per Minute movie. The do-gooders need a cause, and us evil-doers need to get back to fucking like it matters.

Yeah, for those of us who were so used to the "gay lifestyle" pre-aids, the desire to continue no matter what was strong. In the mid west, it really was less of an issue for a few years (only those NYC or SanFran queers were dying right???). No doubt, I became more careful and some of the really wild shit slowed down as the limited venues available in those more closeted and conflicted days closed. But, fuck on we did. Kind of weird in some ways that some of us ended up as chasers....and like me got knocked up on purpose despite living through those years.

I am sure that others, like me, lost friends and maybe had a few scares...it was a difficult time. But, our desire to continue enjoying a very satisfying and authentic queer life was just as compelling as the virus was terrifying in those days.

I was very lucky because I started barebacking before AIDS and managed to keep taking loads until late 80's, when most wore condoms, but I managed to stay HIV-negative. I restarted barebacking in the early 90's when also not too many were barebacking. At the local bathhouse I had tops who were regulars that knew I didn't wore condoms and that I liked taking loads, they would always stop by my room. Not too many raw holes in those days.

Lifelong barebacker here.  Lived in New York at that time.  The raw fucking didn't stop at the sex clubs.

Been giving and taking raw loads nonstop since the late '70 with no apologies, fears or regrets. The AIDS epidemic never slowed me down - it only made raw fucking more taboo and exciting.

Graduated from college in the mid 80's and started getting fucked bareback.  Got into a relationship with a Poz guy that lasted 5 years until he died.  He only fucked me raw one time during our relationship and that was only because he was drunk and I begged him to do it.  After that I have always barebacked.  I am still negative and still taking any load.  I guess I am just one of the people with the natural immunity.  Love taking cum and if the load is POZ even better.  Woof

I started barebacking after watching 'The Living End' on video many years ago

I loved the idea that those guys were just fucking and not thinking about anything more than the fuck. Even now, my hole is twitching at the thought
