Been active since '89, with little condom use and taking raw loads until end of '13, then started PrEP.  In the '90's, personally knew two guys who (worked in the same industry) got pozzed and had complications. With respect, the term "clean" is offensive to many, especially people living with HIV. It infers people living with HIV are dirty, because of the virus.

I started young in the early nineties and rarely ever had a condom in me. I was basically completely bb and playing with much older guys. I think about the subject of condoms, and my lack of use, often.  In the late 80s I was in a relationship, and the thought of using condoms never crossed our minds.  My partner, who was a bilingual teacher, would go and pick up Latin street boys for me as a surprise.  Interesting, he would never let them fuck me, he only fucked them and I could do anything I wanted with them orally.    He also didn't  want me  learning Spanish for fear I would strike up a conversation with them. I think that relationship spared me, at least for about a decade from getting infected.  I left him after five years, and moved to a rural area of Florida, where I would have to drive over and hour to not only work but also to go to clubs and hook up.  Maybe I just wasn't into anal sex that much, I don't know.  Move into the 90s, and suddenly I am working almost full time in the Fort Lauderdale/Miami/Key West area, though I was actually stationed (as a civilian) in Sarasota.  I spent weeks in hotels in those areas, and went to clubs to socialize.  But those bath houses "called my name" and so did the use of "enhancements", and I just remember testing negative in March of one year and in July of that same year I had HIV, plus few t-cells and an astronomical viral load.  One that would continue to climb hire as I became resistant to medication, or rather, resistant to taking it.   But getting back to condoms, I remember they used to place a condom on the towel (which didn't fit  on any of the guys I played with) and I would see them scattered on the floors and in the hallways.  No one used them, and I didn't either.  I think it was all about timing, being in a relationship and just not having alot of anal sex that kept me healthy for that time period.  

Condoms are really a hot button issue, I've said this before and got a lot of flack from guys both on this site and in person, but I won't pass on using a condom with an incredibly hot guy and miss out on some fantastic sex.  I have been in look term FWB relationships where the guy is married and has children, or insists on using them because I am honest about my status.  I'll continue to use them, because I don't want to lose future opportunities if the guy is insistent and I really am attracted to him.

From college in '77 through learning I was POZ I never used condoms. I wasn't having much sex, at least compared to what happened after I found out I was POZ in '93. I had maybe 6 sex partners a year, less during the years I was in relationships. But starting in May '93 everything changed for me.
