Also their is a element of danger as in the imagery of cigar smokers tend to be ruthless men. Heads or organize crime, bikers and politicians and business men. Interesting the things we attach too emotionally? i've always stayed sort of skinny, not lifted weights to get bigger muscles. i did martial arts and yoga, but purposely didn't get the more muscled body i associate with Dom or Top. i can see how culturally, smoking a cigar is more of a Dom type thing to do. I average about 3-4 cigars per week, sometimes quite a bit more than that if I'm hanging out with friends who are also cigar smokers. Other times, like winter time, I'll go a week or more between cigars because I don't smoke in the house. I have a shop/man cave where I smoke during cold weather, nice place to hang out, I have internet, can surf porn and whatever, can tinker around with various projects, read a good book, and have bred a few fuck buddies there. As for health aspects of cigar smoking, one doesn't inhale cigar smoke. The curing of the tobacco leaves makes them highly acidic, cigarette tobacco is highly processed and deliberately made alkaline to make it easy to inhale and more addictive. Heavy cigar smoking can lead to mouth cancers but is fairly rare. I think the meditative and calming aspects of smoking a good cigar outweighs any negative effects. Nothing like kicking back on a warm sunny day with a good friend, a nice Arturo Fuente or Davidoff, with a glass of good Port or Brandy, while discussing old Harley Davidsons or hunting rifles or bitching about politics. I never thought of cigar smoking as sexy, but after reading this thread I might have to rethink that. Perhaps there is some phallic symbolism involved, I do admit to a fondness for sucking cock even though I am a top. But I mostly agree with ol' Freud on this, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. I'm not sure when the last time you were in San Francisco, but California has banned indoor smoking in bars since 1998. It's true that many places have outdoor patios (where smoking is still allowed), but actually in bars - that stopped more than 25 years ago.
