Every now and then when I'm deleting accounts I see a comment that they're deleting their account because the site is hard to navigate. If you feel that way, can you explain what exactly is difficult about the navigation?

That said, I understand that we're pretty rigid on things being posted in the correct area, and I can see where "the correct area" is confusing sometimes. If you can explain a better way to handle content categorization, I'm all ears.

I've been dinged for posting in the incorrect area a couple of times. Once for telling about my last load, I posted in "last load" but made a reference to something that I shouldn't have. Navigation of the site isn't difficult, but knowing exactly where to post something at times? Yeah, that's an issue. I'm afraid I don't have an answer for a way to make the distinction easier. 😥

I don't think it's hard to navigate at all. The one UI issue I saw in the past, where the "speech bubble" icon could mean (alternately) "take me to new posts in this topic" or "mark all posts read in this forum" (depending on where it was used, got corrected in the most recent "update".

The biggest issue I see is that too many people seem to assume every forum here is open to personal ads - usually unrelated to the forum topic. I can't count the number of times I come across "Who wants to fuck this pussy hole?" threads created in the porn forum, in the sexual health forum, in the politics forum, in the fiction sections - it's like some people approach the site as simply one big hookup zone.

Maybe labeling more of the forums with the prefix "DISCUSSION:" would help?  e.g. "DISCUSSION: HIV/AIDS and Sexual Health ISSUES" or "DISCUSSION: Bareback Porn" ? Putting it at the front of the title, rather than the end, might stress that some areas are for discussing things, not just random "Am I hot?" posts.

Maybe pinning a closed topic at the top of each forum with the title "WHAT GOES HERE", with a post explaining the kinds of things that are suitable, and a list of what's not? If every folder had one, people might get in the habit of looking to see if what they're posting about fits the forum.

But its randomness also gives it a far more private risky edge than other sites /

I have always thought the way this site handles pictures was difficult. There isn't a way to look at pics posted by a particular member. If i posted a pic, shouldnt it be at least linked, if not posted on my profile activity page? Trying to find a particular pic posted by a member you cant remember isnt possible either.

I agree with the pictures statement.  It is hard to look up or navigate to pictures.  I know I've thought I've been commenting on a picture itself, but I actually commented on the album.  Also, the reactions are backward on pictures compared to the rest of the site.

As a whole, though, I don't find the site difficult to navigate.  It's a forum-style website with the predefined categories.

Might be nice to have a sort in the notifications section by type of content.

In general I don't find this site difficult to navigate at all, except for the picture handling as mentioned above.

People putting fairly random content in the wrong section is a perennial peeve, but that is hardly the fault of the site.

Would like to give a big thumbs up to Raw Top for keeping the site going. 👍

Somewhat challenging to navigate...

Unless you give details, that type of comment isn't particularly helpful.

The rest of you guys who commented, I'll respond when I'm less tired (just got back from a bike ride).

I this the Regional Hookup Forums should be a separate category in each of the other forums like,The Backroom,Fetish Forum,Fem Trans & Cross-Dressing Forum and Straight & Bi Forums

Another suggestion - not sure if it's possible with the existing software.

The red "dot" or "star" next to each thread in a forum indicates new content (stars on the ones you've participated in, dots otherwise). It would be nice if there was a separate designation for a completely new thread (as opposed to just "new comments"). It would be especially useful in, say, the fiction areas, but in any forum where a user routinely looks for all-new content - say, new questions in the health area - it would be easier to find truly "new" things as opposed to the forty-seventh person swearing they've never touched a condom.

Firstly want to thank @RawTop and the moderators for bringing us BZ. It must be a lot of work to keep running, secure and keep us prolls in check!

I am used to how the site works, but there are a couple of things that might make its use smoother...  I think you have to remember this is primarily a forum and not a general social media/hookup platform.

Searching for a member by username is a bit clunky as you have to go to the search box, select more options, select members and then search. Would be nice if the search box showed members as well as posts by default.

The URL hiding thing is probably necessary evil, but quite annoying. Now I am used to it, and I am happy Safari allows highlighting the text and ctrl-click to select open in new tab.

The point about 'posting in the right place' - sometimes the navigation doesn't help - I recall my one and only suspension resulted from someone else posting in the wrong place. I saw it in my notifications feed, and I hastily followed up by posting something along the lines of "Oh yes, me too" without double checking which forum it was originally posted in... That resulted in a week's suspension, which I've always thought a bit salty given the OP contained the inappropriate content for where it was posted. Anyway... that's water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned, but I think using a different colour or something for the public vs restricted access areas might help clarify where you're posting. I believe some of  forums can be read without logging in and are public and indexed by search engines - again sometimes I wonder if users realise this when posting? Again a colour code or something might help.

Sub-forums need a critical mass to be successful. You're talking about thousands of sub-forums, so it wouldn't work (and it would be a nightmare to set up).

That said, When I redevelop the site (which is not  any time soon) it will be tag based, and location will be a tag. So I totally get the problem and understand how the current structure is limited sub-optimal. But there literally isn't an off-the-shelf solution that does what's needed.

I've never seen pictures as a primary draw of the site. And clearly the developers (it's generic forum software) don't see it that way either. As I develop solutions to replace this site pictures will come sooner rather than later. There are basically two types of picture use cases - pics of you on your own profile, and shared pics in a social media type scenario. I'm hoping I'll get to both of those by the end of the year.

In each list of forum topics there's the option to sort by date. Use that and you can see what's new. I use it all the time to moderate some of the backroom areas to make sure that new threads are in the correct place.

Yes, searching by user name isn't simple, but that's out of my control.

When you say "URL hiding" – if I understand what you're talking about, that's a browser option that can be turned off in your browser settings. It is not something that we're specifically doing on this site.

When I redevelop the site (again, not any time soon), I'll be much clearer about where you're posting and the rules for that area. In the meantime it sorta just is what it is.

Thanks again RT drS and mods for the work behind the scenes.

Over the years, I have got used to the site, but I do find the galleries a pain tbh, If I am looking at galleries a poster for example, if will let me look, then take me into someone elses gallery, i need to vluck into original gallery and find posters inages I was looking at, also I have to keep flicking back to get to main page, Also if I have blocked a user, I dont wish to see his gallery but I still have to endure it,

I worry about content when not logged in and what can be read on search engines, there is a lot I guess and Imo, I think there are too many Guests logged in. They should have a proper account, TBH, I think people may have left for security of thrur info.

Please please, Can I have my 2 bad marks removed now?. These were mistakenly made in 2012, please remove them from my account RT, I have carried them 8 years. I need to be freed. Thanks
