Are you worried about genital herpes? Any experience with it?

I got HPV shortly after starting BBing and being on prep. After I got the news nothing happened immediately.

About 6-months after being told, I got an outbreak of a few warts. They were bothersome and it seemed like I would go to the derm every month to get them frozen off. This went on for 18 months. Eventually the outbreaks slowed down. Now I might get one wart every year but that’s it. It is the price of BB. If you are under 45, you can get the vaccine for HVP.

I had the same exp, but only that my warts appeared within 1-2 months and went away on its own and never to come back yet. its been 2 years. I got a vax for HVP after i had the first and the only wart, but it is to prevent cancer. outbreaks could still happen I think ..

Ztheek - You are right. We can still get warts but unlikely to get a large or frequent break-out. I did the same thing you did too. Even though I had HVP, I got the vax since there are like 30-40 variations of it.

I have experience with it, having had HSV-1 since I was 19. There are two variants (1&2) that course minor pain or irritation in small number of cases that cause an outbreak. Most infections are so minor we don’t recognize it when we see it or they never manifest at all.

The majority of adults carry one of the two versions, many of whom have no idea they have it, because they never have an outbreak. Until that happens we have no reason to be tested for the virus, and this means you likely already have herpes.

If you get an outbreak they’re easily treatable with Acyclovir. It shortens the duration of the outbreak and if you take it daily it supposedly decreases asymptotic shedding.

I’ve known I had this for 13 years(give or take) and have had zero outbreaks in the last decade. So if you peeps on prep want to worry about something you likely already have that you may see once, if ever, then never again that causes no permanent harm…… be free to live your truth there I guess, but I don’t get it.. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Also, with all the HPV concern: there’s  a vaccine for the most common versions transmitted that’s given to kids in middle school. There’s a population of my generation that even got it, so if your in your mid thirties or younger, also not a concern. 😁

Have never been or will ever be on PrEP, but did have a go with herpes back in my very early twenties after I was fucking a younger slut for a few months. Had several breakouts that lasted for about 6 months off and on. They were a bit painful, but then as suddenly as they appeared, they were gone and never had any more problems with them afterwards. Now at my age, am not worried about it in any way and is of no concern, it's just part of the lifestyle and if and when any of it strikes again, it will just become part of the game fro me.

In the early 90s, I had a doctor that told me I had anal warts. He then brought in the other doctor in his practice, they put me ass up under bright lights, and then “treated” me. This reoccurred every time I went in to his office. I found out a few years later that they had thought I was hot. Apparently, they did the same with select other patients. I would have been fine with them just saying we want to play with your ass.

True, but unfortunately, far too few parents know about it, and far too few school systems have any sort of effective sexual health and education programs to inform students and parents about this. In fact, far too many schools have state laws that prohibit any teaching of sex that is not strictly about abstinence. A sane country would offer such vaccines free of charge to all students of the appropriate age and require them for attending public school after a certain age. We are not, unfortunately, a sane country.

The OP specifically asked about genital herpes, that is, the STI caused by the Herpes simplex virus (HSV). The next several replies talked about HPV, or genital warts, which are caused by Human Papillomavirus. They are two different, unrelated conditions with entirely different symptoms, treatments, prognoses, and prevention strategies.

@CABttm4Txc above gave a good simplified rundown on Herpes, so go back and read it if you haven’t. The takesways are that the majority of the public has herpes, chances are fair you already have it and don’t know it, and that there’s no vaccine and no cure. I would also add to the above that the oral and genital varieties are essentially the same, and you don’t have to fuck someone to get infected. I got it, probably as a child, likely by being kissed by a relative. On very rare occasions I may get a cold sore on my lip.

Here’s the CDC’s fact sheet:

I noticed the confusion here between HPV and HSV, or some back and forth on different subjects, no big deal.

I have HSV and have an outbreak about once a year. They are more infrequent with me over time but of course it's different with every one.  I don't take anything for it, yes to answer your question I am on Prep, the outbreaks are so far in between I chose to stay off meds for it. Symptoms vary but I have upset stomach, headache and feel bad for 3-7 days then its over when I have an outbreak.

Dude. Nobody is happy to have cancer. Get some perspective.

Don't be sure. There are people here (before RawTop clamped down a bit, rightfully so) who were thrilled to have progressed to AIDS. Or at least, they claimed to be so. And many others who publicly aver their desire to progress to that state. One thing this site has taught me is that no matter how odd or extreme some particular fetish or desire may seem, once it's mentioned, a chorus of people will rise up claiming to share that interest with zeal.

It's pretty easy to catch as a bb slut. But being selective and not having sex during breakouts lowers the risk quite a bit. I've barebacked a few porn actors without catching herpes. And herpes is rampant among porn actors.
