NastyRigPig Posted June 30, 2021 Report Posted June 30, 2021 I didn’t know what a badge was. I’m not sure if I should be proud or ashamed that I waste some time here before going to bed?
ErosWired Posted June 30, 2021 Report Posted June 30, 2021 Well. I hadn’t realized that in this system there really are ‘badges’. I just got a notice that I’d earned the “Dedicated” badge given for visiting daily every day for a week. (It seems to indicate that this is uncommon, which I find difficult to credit.) I think a system like this could easily go overboard. This is a discussion forum, and I think any reward system runs the risk of degrading the quality of content as members begin posting not for the purpose of discussion, but simply for bulking up their post count or response count in pursuit of the next badge or level. It’s never a good idea to scatter a bunch of shiny trinkets on the floor of a room full of people with things they should be doing - they invariably stop what they’re doing to pick up the shiny things. It’s what humans do. Throw out too many shiny badges and people may lose sight of what makes BZ valuable as a community. The reward system should never become anyone’s reason for logging on; it should never be the point. 2 2

Fully agree.. You know I am a Grand Master, I also see my mistake days of warning points which makes me feel shit Tbh. My warnings and ban goes back about 10 years and I have been a good bottom since.I would like these removed so my new status which I am honoured to have, can be enjoyed. I would like to be a Grand Bottom or Grand slut. Master kind of makes me look like a Top. But hey, it's fun. 1 1

Yeah… I can understand why they may want to persist them as a reminder - but since they do have an expiration date (at least the ones I got recently do), it would be nice if they disappear after that date - or at least even if the section just collapses so I don’t need to keep looking at them every time I go to my profile. I guess I’ll find out what actually happens when they expire. 😉 - Di ❤️ Edited June 30, 2021 by Qdxxx

I got two warnings from when I first started on this forum. I hadn't a clue what was what and what went where. I did my best but got it wrong, I apologised and acknowledged I'd fucked up but, to this day I've still got the two Strikes 😖😢 Edited June 30, 2021 by Splitcock 2
BootmanLA Posted June 30, 2021 Report Posted June 30, 2021 I think there are two separate issues here: How long warnings/demerits/strikes/points/whatever appear on your profile, and how long they have an impact on your ability to use features and advance levels. With respect to the former: If you don't want to see visible reminders of past infractions, don't look at them. The system's management is absolutely, 100% within its rights to keep a permanent record of all past infractions. It's not like (as far as I can tell) other people looking at your profile see the infraction history - I believe that's limited to one's own record. There are people I'm fairly confident have gotten significant penalties assessed against themselves on here, and it's not visible on their profiles. The issue of how long it should affect one's ability to do things online is separate. Presumably, though, continuing to participate in the various forums (within the rules) should eventually not only negate, but subsume, any bad effects of "having a record". And if a person DOES earn another infraction/penalty, the staff ought to be able to see that entire history, to see if there's any sort of pattern. If the poster, for instance, only gets an infraction once a year, and it's always for the same thing, it's perhaps a sign that the penalty levied isn't having the desired effect of changing a person's behavior online - and that an alternative or more severe penalty may be needed.

Ever consider there might be reason to @rawTOP's 'madness'? As a recurring theme he/this website points out that actions have consequences - in real life as well as on this site. He might wants us to 'grow up'. Possibly you see your own penalties not to 'punish' you but as reminder you did do what you did. It's a grown man that realises that all the apologising, acknowledging and 'owning' it won't change past actions. Why is the reminder so hard for you to look at? 9 hours ago, BootmanLA said: I think there are two separate issues here: How long warnings/demerits/strikes/points/whatever appear on your profile, and how long they have an impact on your ability to use features and advance levels. Administrators rawTOP Posted July 2, 2021 Author Administrators Report Posted July 2, 2021 Just a follow up the names of the statuses that didn't really make sense in the context of BZ, got renamed. The new list of levels is: Newbie Rookie Apprentice Explorer Contributor -> PARTICIPANT Enthusiast Collaborator -> INSIDER Community Regular Rising Star -> DEVOTEE Proficient -> FANATIC Experienced -> EXPERT Mentor -> SPECIALIST Veteran Grand Master 1
