Hi am a top wanting to try bottoming soon. I was just wondering if it was an absolute requirement to douche before hand?

There's no one answer here...best I can give you is my own personal view on it.

I prefer to clean out before any fucking.  It's because I don't want to run the risk of anything happens...might not be foolproof, but it's a complete mood killer for many tops when they see or smell any waste during fucking.

I'd also say that your daily diet would have an effect as well.  If you're eating lots of fiber and avoiding things such as fast-food or excessive amounts of coffee...you'll be less likely for any accidents.    

Now, that being said, there is a small subset of tops that actually prefer messy holes.  These tops aren't the kind that interest me; but if you're not going to clean out, these may be your best option...they wont' get put off in the moment, when shit happens (literally).

In the situation you were describing where you had not intended or planned to bottom and it happened spontaneously, the top should be understanding if it is a little messy. That said, if you know you are full and feel the need to shit, you should tell him; that situation will lead to more than a little mess. 

I douche regularly just to make sure I am clean. I have done it long enough that I just feel comfortable that way. 

If I do a full clean out early in the morning, I find that will generally last for several hours of my partner fucking me (he's young and can go 5-6 times a day). Overnight is riskier. I will ask him, "do you want it now or want it clean?" He usually opts for letting me clean out. 

Eating a diet rich in fiber or using fiber supplements help. I really like Pure for Men. I take it everyday.

I only can repeat what the others wrote above. I am always anxious of the accidents, not because of me but the top’s reactions. Therefore, I make a thorough douche before I go to have sex or host anybody. I am open for spontaneous fuck and if I am the bottom I always warn the top whether I am clean or not. @Queenzlander59, your questions are very pertinent and there aren't many places for new bottoms to turn to for candid advice. (Thanks, Breeding Zone, for being one such place.)

As a top I'm happy when a bottom's hole is mostly cleaned out, but I don't expect sex to be aseptic, either. That's why we have old towels, extra sheets, washing machines, and bleach!

If a bottom is worried and tells me, I'm happy to pause, and maybe even join him in the shower a few minutes later.

Cleaning out is, however, essential if people will be fucking in a public place without facilities. It would be awkward indeed to walk, ride the bus, or take the train home, wearing soiled clothes.

When meeting in a hotel, cleaning out also helps. The sheets can't be changed on demand, there are never enough towels, and in any case it's not fair (or sanitary) to leave bodily fluids for housekeeping staff to handle.

If you are visiting a top's home late at night, it's also courteous to clean out. The last thing any top wants is to have to say goodbye to a hot bottom, and then to have to re-make the bed and do laundry at 4 AM. We need sleep, too!

I agree with what pigs have said above. Douching gets your clean and ready to bred. Douching and a shower take 90 mins for me. I know this may seem long, but it's worth it. This has also been true for me in terms of cleaning before sex. When I was a younger BB bottom, when someone wanted to drop by, I was ready with a clean and lubed hole in 30 minutes.  I find that as I age cleaning my hole is taking me more time.
