Any participant not comfortable with you being the "door guy" doesn't need to be there at all - simply put.  This is your boyfriend after all, and you are totally within your rights to look out for his safety and comfort; especially in this situation.

You also want to keep an eye on the vibe in the room, and be able to put a stop to anything that gets out of hand (i.e. bad behaviour, bounce any "creepy" participants, make sure no one gets into their klepto mood).
