They tried it twice in Manchester and both times it was a flaccid affair. In contrast, the Sheffield ones (just over the Pennines) were great. At least, pre-Covid - I haven’t been since.

Of course, Manchester was notoriously pretty much bareback city before it became more mainstream, so that might explain the failure. When your unique selling point isn’t unique, it’s a pretty uphill battle to make a success.

I went to Sheffield in early 2023 for CumUnion and it was not worth the journey - the sauna did nothing to promote it as a CumUnion event and it seemed like just a regular evening. They didn't make any effort to play bareback porn on the TVs and people I spoke to there didn't know about CumUnion.  Similar experience in Northwich - the CumUnion event coincided with their naked event and they were pushing that and there was no mention of CumUnion at the venue.  I've not been since as it's not worth the drive up anymore.

That’s really interesting about Sheffield because pre-2020 they really were worth the journey. But it was actually promoted back then. Times change, I guess.

Thanks @AirmaxUK… good to know. I was planning a trip to Northwich for CumUnion. It is a cum desert out here in Wiltshire.

Well his history has been to  go to two of those events a year and every time he gets an STD.  It's like clockwork, he drives, he participates and in a week (or sooner) he realizes he has caught something.   I can have eight different partners a month, approximately 100 different guys a year, and I don't end up with anything.  Granted these guys were spread out over a twelve month period, were not in the same location, or even city and state.   But I highly doubt my friend traded bodily fluids with as many men as I did over the calendar year.  So what gives?  Is it because all these guys attending the "cumdump events" are more likely to carry STDs,   and I meet my sex partners under more conventional  circumstances (i.e. online, telephone apps, the gym)?  Or are guys who attend such parties just more inclined to be likely to have additional partners outside events making their number of sexual partners higher than mine?

I could be on the low end of the spectrum when I say my number is approximately 100.  It could be 120 with one or two smaller group events added in over the year. But I know for a fact my Canadian buddy, who has so few opportunities for group action, or action in general, has gotten sick at almost every one of these organized events he has attended.   He can't leave Ottawa due to work reasons, he's auditioned for porn and actually appeared in one video, so he's got certain attributes guys would find attractive.  But I SKYPE with him often and it's sad to hear him planning these upcoming events, knowing that upon his return he's going to be disappointed over the fact that he is back at his doctor's office, sick again.

So to answer your question, yes I am surprised he gets an STD infection each time,  because the math just doesn't add up.  Or else he's the unluckiest guy I have ever met.....

CumUnion in Indianapolis is a "no-go" for me.  Not much action.  New owner of the bathhouse has added rules/limitations to time/attendance and raised the prices to the point it just is not worth it.

Let me get this straight in my very tired brain: your friend attended 2 CumUnion events over a 12 month period,* and each time, he contracted an STD. A sample size of 2 doesn't lead to a statistically strong correlation between attending and catching something. That he contracted something each time, an admittedly miserable outcome, really could be bad luck.

(*It isn't clear from your two posts whether (1) he's only attended two events or (2) he's gone for several years, twice a year.)

I'm always sceptical about guys who can't find anything at any time in between big events yet blame the party for catching something.
If he's that unlucky then he should stop auditioning for porn cos he's bound to get an STD there?
(Apart from the near impozzibility of tracing a specific STD to a specific person.)

I haven’t been to Northwich for a Cumunion event, but I’ve been a few times on a regular Sunday afternoon, and it’s great! It’s an amazing sauna, and although I wouldn’t specifically make the 500-mile round-trip drive from where I live in Essex for it, I do make the effort to stop in when I’m visiting family in the North.

Another thing that I think has hurt the CumUnion brand has been overexposure. Here in Atlanta we have the Atlanta Dominion BDSM-kink party, which only occurs four times a year. I once asked why it was only four times a year and not every month and I was told that when it went to every month, attendance dropped significantly. In the less-is-more approach, the turnouts for the event are large because they are only held four times a year. In some places, CumUnion not only occurs monthly but multiple times in a month between several locations, essentially diluting the event because there's always one happening.

Oh he's attended several years, twice a year.  My bad, for not clarifying.  It just seems he heads to CumUnion and I don't know of a time he has NOT come back with something.  I know he has tried to mix it up, by going to different locations but he has gone on consecutive years.  It's not like he's done the Ottawa-Toronto run every time. I know he's come to Florida as well for events.  The guy has awful luck - it may be he's just sickly.  I know in addition to STIs he's gotten the flu, but he lives in Canada and it seems every time we Face Time or Skype he's in bed - and alone!

Was in Leeds at the weekend and the Sauna there were promoting "Cum fed" nights. They tried to get CumUnion nights, but Sheffield would not let them. So name change.

But I was struck it was something like 3 nights a month,every month. 

I was there on an regular day, got 2 fucks, one safe, which was good as it opened me up and made me prelubed for the raw bear that had me next. The porn they were playing was both safe and bareback.

 

As said before, with Prep, more raw sex is going on than ever,  raw nights aren't that special anymore.
