Here, there are parking lots all over the place where (temporary) voting stations have been set up.

There's a woman named Debby Muscatel Powell running for (p)Rick Scott's seat.  I doubt it will happen, but by all that's unholy, I'd love to see that one hit the bricks.

This is probably wishful thinking, but is that a whiff of PURPLE I smell in the air ????

It’s amazing that Medicare fraudster Rick Scott who committed the largest Medicare fraud at the time got elected Senator.  Now he’s the architect of the bill dismantling Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, and he still somehow has a chance to get elected again.

Good luck, Florida!

Nanana rather naively asserts that suddenly inflation happened and gave right wing assholes motivation, but there was no inflationary period in 2015, and my family were largely already held captive.  The bigger divide was much earlier with the end of the Fairness Doctrine and the rise of right wing hate radio.

Great points NEDenver, and I am very appreciative that you noticed my naivety, which may be my only remaining boyish quality. I cannot fully explain the bitterness of that era of the right. Also, please remember that a surprisingly high proportion of Obama voters voted for Trump, so it is at least a mischaracterization to suggest that MAGA was monolithic. Looking further back to right/left history, I do think that many of the liberal shibboleths of that era, which I embraced as a liberal youth, have turned out to be much more problematic than the simple pat stories I was told (McCarthyism, which I bet most liberals take at winners-write-history textbook face value; or the Rosenbergs; or the lack of attention to the Israeli theft of nuclear secrets or Israel’s attack on the USS Liberty, which was covered up by LBJ).
What I CAN speak to is why the right may be winning hearts and minds among disaffected Democrats (lockdowns, deplatforming conservatives and pretending they need baby guardrails for “misinformation” more than the 1st amendment, Afghanistan, Hunter Biden laptop, Russiagate lies, TDS, trying to erase the 1st 4th 9th 10th amendments, siding with criminals and illegals over workers and thus raising the cost of civil society, just to share a few of the stories that have risen up in the 21,000 +/-daily news cycles that have passed since the Voting Rights Act was passed 60 years ago. To be fair, there are Republicans leaving for the Democrats, like Bloody Liz Cheney and other neocons that know how to flatter Democrats to get their wars by boogeymanning the libs. The rich have always made their money by scaring the poor but I used to trust Democrats for being able to discern corporate fraud. Now I find the right to be generally more astute at this except when their direct interests are at play. I am aware that the MAGA movement may not be the prettiest debutante at the ball, but the more neocons leave the party, the more likely America First will be seen not as the hateful slogan I thought it was when I first Heard it and more like a trust that all nations are better off when they focus on their problems and stop meddling in the business of others.
maybe it’s time to update mental models, assess actual risk rather than worrying about all of the stupid things we say, and hold ALL politicians in the uniparty and beyond it accountable for their actions rather than the venting they do instead of being violent.

This mishmash means absolutely nothing.

She can claim she's of Royal Swahili blood, for all I care.  She could have swooped in on a rocket ship from Mars for all I care.

It's her proposals that I'm interested in.  It's her heart, her mind, her intellect that I'm interested in, and why I voted for her.  In comparison, the other choice has no concern whatsoever for anyone but himself, his mind is so clouded we need foghorns  blaring when he mouths his mindless insults, lies, etc.  This shadow of a man simply must not ever have the reins of government in his fat puffy hands ever again.

Ancillary note:  when one votes via mail-in ballot, you get an email saying the Registrar's office has 1) received your ballot, 2) counted your ballot, and 3) recorded your votes (assuming you cast a vote for each vacancy).  These come over a span of several days, thus tracking the progress of your ballot as it's being counted, recorded, etc.

Which proposals?

Indian American (which is like African American or Chinese American) is completely different from American Indian or Native American. One shouldn't have to explain that to intelligent adults.

And as to the comment about someone being part Native American, half of America falsely, yet truly, believes that they have native American blood in their family tree. For generations families have embellished their history with these claims, and their descendants have taken it as gospel. Little did any of them think a thing like DNA testing would ever come along to prove them wrong. So even though Kamala has not claimed Native ancestry, give those who have a break; its a very common misconception. And instead of trying to call them liars, suggest instead they take a DNA test and then you can discuss it. Even my ex husband thought he was and would have sworn on a stack of whatever that it was true based on his great grandmother's tales. DNA proved that a big fat lie.

On a side note I want to be a voting booth, as recognized by permanent markers tallied up in my glutes. I have petitioned the voting commissions all over the country to stop recognizing ballots that depend upon mail-in (unless female- or male-  masturbated DNA evidence of identity) non-DNA-infused butt-or-cunt ballots. Sluts of America we could save democracy from the uniparty if we only married our holes to forensically-minded voter-fraud experts. I also chose the option to replace my face on my drivers license with a cum-imprint that stays “wet” to the touch but not wet enough to be an AI father to non-children

An EPA that exists.  A Department of Education that exists.  Lina Khan riding herd at the FTC.  Unions getting stronger.  Social mobility.  Protestors not being shot by the military.  Working and middle class children not forced to work in factories and slaughterhouses.  Feeding children, even when they’re not in school.  Caring for children after they’re born.  Not making every person at this website a felon because “pornography”.  Not going back to pre-existing conditions and lifetime caps on health insurance.

There’s more, but start there.

For starters, her proposals re: restoring Women's Reproductive Freedom.

Next, her proposals for gun reform.

Then there's her "down payment" proposals, to help families get out of the cycle of renting, and into owning, which - as I'm sure you know - is a substantial step in building generational wealth.

She understands that taxation burdens the less fortunate, and will help alleviate that.  The other guy only has tariffs to offer, which everyone knows (or should) is merely an added sales tax on imported good's and services, that most folks agree is already taxed enough.  As I'm sure you already know, virtually everything we buy has foreign-made parts/components.

She's planning to ameliorate costs of rental housing, which is a huge step in building generational wealth.

Harris is all about bending that Moral Arc as far towards Justice as she can, and that's more than enough reason for me to vote for her.

from all that you see on the ground,

Well, I don't go on day-trips to other counties all that much, and Ft. L. is in Broward County (the most reliably blue County in the State), so what I see is around here is skewed Liberal anyway.

If Broward were more of a middle-of-the-road County, I'd be jumping  for joy.  One of these decades though ....

"dead heat" polls

Agreed.  How many times have we jumped out of bed the morning after, to blaring headlines saying "The polls were wrong"?  I learned a while ago that the only poll I could affect, is the election in which I voted.

Actually, I was going to host a little dinner event for two of my best buddies on Election Night, but we talked it over and decided to wait until the dust settled and the actual result was clear - probably 2, 3 days later.

"On a Friday morning post on Trump’s social media site Truth Social, the former president referred to one of the most prominent openly gay journalists in the U.S. as "Allison Cooper.”

Trump made the subtext even more explicit later Friday during a rally in Traverse City, Michigan, where he criticized a town hall Cooper hosted with Vice President Kamala Harris.

“If you watched her being interviewed by Allison Cooper the other night, he’s a nice person. You know Allison Cooper? CNN fake news,” Trump said, before pausing and saying in a mocking voice: “Oh, she said no, his name is Anderson. Oh, no."

On Saturday, Trump repeated the name during another Michigan rally, then followed it up during a nighttime reference in Pennsylvania. “They had a town hall,” Trump said in Michigan. “Even Allison Cooper was embarrassed by it. He was embarrassed by it.”

In referring to Cooper with a woman’s name, Trump appeared to turn to a stereotype heterosexual people have long deployed against gay men. Such rhetoric evokes the trope of gay men as effeminate and comes as Trump aims to drive up his appeal among men in the final stages of his bid to return to the White House."

Government has no place in morality.

Women are free to reproduce or not, if they can't fuck without breeding they shouldn't be doing either. If they're too stupid to fuck without breeding they can wallow in the consequences of their actions. Are you implying it should be easier for pregnant women to kill their children? That's pretty steep for a guy who is admittedly anti gun.

Most of her anti-gun shit is unconstitutional emotionally charged bullshit, easily circumvented by manufacturing and engineering - look at CA gun owners as an example.

Generational wealth is something that is built, if you can't figure it out or do it  you flounder. Survival of the fittest and all.

Tariffs encourage domestic manufacturing and the cessation of purchasing useless shit like rubber dog shit and 90% of what people buy on amazon.com. Tariffs are far more than an "added sales tax". Intelligent consumers demand products and don't compromise. Not everyone's a sellout.

Why don't you just move to Canada?

Um... That's conjecture.

What's the problem with restrictions on medical insurance? Nobody should be paying for obese diabetics to get drugs and pacemakers, they should be allowed to eat themselves to death without burdening other's with the pitfalls of their poor choices and existence.

Republicans are all about morality in government, though.  Their plan is to make pornography illegal and then define your existence as pornography.  So enjoy your felonies.

Also, thanks for the most naive explanation of tariffs ever barfed into the ether.  You, sir, are surely a well into the “not evil” camp of conservatives.

Old republicans are, they're also all about not doing anything at all. Republicans don't really plan the way you seem to think, the DNC and CDP sure do and they cycle through idiot volunteers before they OD unlike the GOP.

I don't care about your insults, you clearly live on the internet and are ignorant of reality. Shame you can vote.

That’s fact.  The Republican plans are published.

You seem ready to pitch “obese diabetics”, and I suppose you’d argue everyone with HIV, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, Crohn’s, everything else should just die and not burden society, which firmly places you in the literal Nazi camp.
