If I purchase a home test kit, the only two answers seem to be poz or neg.  What kind of reading would someone who is undetectable get?

Also, once undetectable would a guy need meds other than his primary ART before having sex again?

Undetectable HIV+ will read as positive (HIV+) on a home test. That's because the test measures antibodies to HIV, not the virus itself.

HIV+ guys with undetectable viral load don't need meds other than their primary ART to keep it that way. Most of the commonly used ARTs (at least in the first world, I'm not sure about elsewhere) are three-drug combinations in a single tablet.

There is a specific viral load test that is carried out for pox guys by our health professionals to measure how much of the virus is in each millilitre of blood. That’s more accurate but if one doesn’t have antibodies, it’s very much the case that one is HIV negative.

Hmm..  I saw a graphic a couple days ago that showed test results on what looked like a home test kit tool.  It had Poz, Neg and Undetectable.  Now I can’t find it but it could have been edited.  It was what made me ask the question as I’ve never seen one.

thanks for the replies.
