I was a late bloomer, with my first gay sexual experience being sucked off at an adult bookstore booth when I was 17.  Then, I kept going back, of course.  It was at the bookstore that I read about the existence of bathhouses.

I headed for the nearest bathhouse and I’ve been hooked ever since.  They are safe places tomorrow have sex with a variety of men, which is why it’s sad to see them dying.  Younger generations who rely on apps have no idea how much more fun bathhouses can be.

I stayed in the closet a while, so bathhouses were my only sexual outlet.  I learned so much watching and experiencing.

It the first place I fucked someone, got my ass eaten out, tried poppers, fisted guys, dildoed guys, had group sessions, learned to enjoy bottoming, glory hole sucking, had my ass played with (expertly  by my college English professor—but he didn’t recognize me).  I’d also gotten the chance to watch so many guys having sex—fun and educational!

My motto has always been that I would try anything sexually twice to see if I liked it, and bathhouses help me try many.

What did you first try or see at a bathhouse?

They were my gateway to Poppers and sucking cock. I remember spending a night in Chariots Waterloo (London) when I missed the last train home after a gig and didn't want to wait in the cold for the first train of the morning (at least a good 4 hours) . I was so drunk and bought two bottles of poppers, laid down in the room that had the small screens and was more or less molested all night (which I totally loved, btw).

Had guys feeling me up (inside and out). I hadn't been fucked at that point and surprised nobody tried...it's not like I could've put up much of a fight.

Great times.

One of the things I learned was, we're a group of men with widely-varying interests.  Not every guy is a total bottom, not every guy is a total Top, there's a wide array of inclinations available to us, and assumptions are simply inappropriate.  Thus, my reliance on a "negotiation", however brief, to make sure each guy gets everything he wants and nothing he doesn't.

Every guy usually enjoys at least one of the "basics" - fucking or sucking - and a brief "I like X, but I love Y" exchange can always make sex hot, as well as avoid regrettable mistakes.  Or, just start in with one act, and if he responds well, keep at it.  At the tubs, there are always plenty of other guys if one turns out to be not quite what you're there for.

I learned that I was attracted to a variety of types.  It’s served me well throughout my sexual life.  I can find something, even one thing, very attractive in almost everyone.

I learnt how to relax and enjoy sex with men.  They have given me a safe place to explore my sexuality and try new experiences.

This was the same for me.

It really is unfortunate the number of bathhouses that have disappeared over the last decade.  Toronto only has three now plus a new club called Anvil.

@Westlonladit is unfortunate that all the Chariots locations have closed.  Between 2009 and 2012 I travelled to the UK a few times a year for work.  I was still in my bathhouse newbie phase and not really comfortable doing much but did spend an afternoon on one of my trips at Vauxhall exploring the place.
