Instead of being a growing problem, it really seems to creep around, regionally.. Meth use SOARED from 98-03 in West Coast cities, and has dropped considerably in recent years, while increasing in The Midwest, South & Northeast. While Meth was a well known issue with straight and gay people, and was a bit more visible in society in the Western states, it's still fairly new to the rest of the country, (especially with gay men in rural areas) and I really don't think most gay men have the slightest clue what they're getting themselves into, in those areas. I've lived in Cleveland, Los Angeles, and Phoenix, and the culture and stigma surrounding crystal varies greatly region by region.

When it comes to crystal though, 1000 guys could tell one dude who wants to try it how awful it is, and.. if the dude wants to do it? He's going to do it. Unfortunately what happens from there is really left to chance.. it becomes more and more difficult to live life for anything but crystal..

Don't use Crystal, no interest in trying it. But I have used MDMA (AKA: Ecstasy, X, E) on occasion. Prob not a great idea for tops, as it interferes with the erectile response, but great as a bottom.

I would classify myself as a "binge" partier. (i.e. I may go 2-3 months between using - but when I do, it may be for 3-4 days). i have used in the past. I will admit it does tend to make you do things that you would normally NOT do, if not using. For example, I usually top, but when using I have, on occasion, been curious what it would be like to take it up the ass. I would never think of that if not using. I am subject to random drug testing at work so I have to choose my sessions very carefully. I would say in the past two years, I have probably used about 6 times. That is about three times a year. I can take it or leave it, personally.

Poppers & beer is about it for me lol. I've been around it & saw first hand the incredible addiction meth has over people. Seen regular guys get on it and can't come off then will do anything to get more money to buy more meth from stealing to assault to prostituting themselves for any amount of money. Some I knew disappeared after awhile I'm assuming in jail or probably dead who knows. I read a report that its use is increasing in gay community. It's true there seems to be more use among raw only bare backers .

Haven't done any serious drugs in a long time -- never did smoke or inject coke or meth. BUT the one time I did meth was one time I was back in AZ visiting and some friends of mine had some meth, so I picked some up. Long story short it was my 4th day without sleep and I was driving back to my folks house. While stopped at a light it occurred to me how good I felt, which after 4 days I should be wrecked, the thought also occurred that many scientists believe that there are those who may have a predilection for addiction to certain substances. So, I threw the rest of bottle away and haven't touched it since.

That said, I lost one of my best friends to meth AND the few times I've had sex with Tina aficionados it was not that pleasant. The tops were pushing rope and both the tops and bottoms would stop and refresh, as it were. Just like RT, I hate that.

Finally, those of you on drug regimens that include Norvir need to be more careful as Norvir will boost blood levels of meth, coke, X and Viagra.

I am not being judgemental, or "pushing" any sort of Lifestyle on anyone. I have seen MANY very close friends & an Ex-lover of 26 years DESTROY.. YES totally destroy their lives because of TINA. The social & economic ramifications are bad enough... but add the NEUROLOGICAL damage, that was mentioned earlier and for some people, this is a recipe for disaster.
