List Your Site Suggestions Here...
rawTOP replied to Belfast-Bottom's topic in Tips, Tricks, Rules & Help
@AdventurousButSane - I'm wiped and about to walk the dogs and go to bed. I'll look more closely at what you suggested tomorrow, but I just wanted to say you already have private photo albums. When you mark someone as your friend it gives them access to all your private albums. There's also a calendar section which is a great place to list your play parties. I don't know that they're linked on your profile though. What other hookup sites would you like to see profile name fields for? I refuse to do Manhunt - they're still on my shit list - money given to them winds up in the hands of Republicans who work against the civil rights of the gay community. I'll respond more tomorrow. Thanks for your suggestions... -
What Kind Of Tattoos Look Good On Bears/Chubs?
rawTOP replied to rawTOP's topic in General Discussion
Well, I trolled through my pics of porn stars with tattoos and finally came up with a tattoo style I think will look good on me - the "sleeve" Bo Dean has (see below)... There were ones that I saw that looked good on some guys, but weren't for me - I didn't want to do tribal, I didn't want to do the colorful figurative stuff (that often involves red flames), I didn't want to celtic, I didn't want to do one of those blocky south pacific ones either. Bo's sleeve is is a nice compromise - I'm not sure what sort of label you'd put on it. It has complexity and depth without going overboard. I think in another pic you can see he's got a naked lady in there - not sure I'd want that exactly - lol - but I'm a Sagatarian so I could see incorporating a centaur with a bow and arrow. I've always thought the archery metaphor was appropriate for a breeder top. But it has to be really subtle - a man-horse archer could be really tacky if it's done wrong. So some figurative elements, but also a fair amount of pattern... I think I'd also sorta reserve a spot under my arm near my arm pit for a biohazard symbol in the event I test poz at some point in the future. I'm also thinking of having the name of my lover who died incorporated somehow... That's the nice part of Bo's sort of design - I can do all of those things and it's still a cohesive tattoo... My boyfriend thinks that tattoo will cost me $5,000 to $10,000. Does anyone know for sure? Like me, my bf has no tattoos and so he's just pulling a number out of his ass. I found something online that said full sleeve tattoos take about 20 hours at $150/hr - so that's a lower number, but I know I'm going to be picky and want a good tattoo artist, so I could see double that amount... And any idea who in New York can do that sort of work? I need an original design plus execution. Montréal would be good too - I could see going up there a 2-3 times until it's done and it's sorta a tattoo-friendly city with lots of under-employed creative types... -
Are you happy with your current hookup sites?
rawTOP replied to rawTOP's topic in General Discussion
I don't think we could achieve quite the level of integration you're thinking about in the near term. PigMaster and I need to have a talk about what's feasible, then figure out what of that is desirable. Either way, you'll definitely be able to perceive the boundary between the sites. What we're talking about is one site's ability to have links with auto login to the other site, and maybe the ability to pull and display a little data from the other site. I don't see the two sites being blended into an indistinguishable whole any time soon (if ever). -
Panel discussion organized by The Body on barebacking...
rawTOP posted a topic in General Discussion
The Body organized a panel discussion the other day about barebacking. It starts out a little academic, but then there's a lot of good discussion. Here are some of the highlights... I gotta say I'm always disappointed at how few gay guys bareback. A lot of us do, but so many more "should" be... We've got out work cut out for us, I guess... I definitely don't believe the 12 percent figure - at least not in urban areas. In cities 46% sounds more like the real number - maybe a bit lower. What do you guys think is the real number? I totally agree with them on that point! They've managed to make "safe sex" about as uncool and unhip as you could possibly imagine. Their message is still based on fear and much of the data they throw at you hasn't been relevant in over 15 years. That leaves the bareback community in the wonderful position of being the ones who are confidently living an uninhibited, fearless life. They talked about a lot of the reasons why people bareback, but that one stood out. I know someone who pozzed his boyfriend, but haven't really heard about that many guys wanting to be poz to be more connected to their boyfriends. Interesting he said he's seen a fair amount of it.Here's another interesting reason for barebacking... I remember being in a gay men's support group after coming out in college and I was rare in the group because I had not been molested as a kid - nearly all the guys had been molested as kids. But then there's the issue of homophobia. Many times as gay men we have to strike out and make our own lives with no support from family. It can be a tough life and you have to make your own decisions. That leads us to live a more examined life than most straights. We question things - including what we're taught about safe sex. Because our lives are tough I think we value pleasure more than straight people - and we're willing to take risks to enjoy the moment... It is interesting to think all of that may come subconsciously from abuse (physical or emotional) that we have to deal with. I do think relationships can be valuable on many levels. Some people don't understand why I continue to have a largely non-sexual relationship with my boyfriend, but relationships aren't just about sex - in many ways they're about two compatible people being companions - which is why I think sluts should get into relationships with other sluts... It can actually be a good combination... Personally, I think that sorta sums up the major factors for older guys... Interesting the moderator converted when he was older. This point is really important - look at what he's saying... He wants to medicate people who may not need meds personally to protect the people they have sex with. I think this is really dangerous on a policy level. It's one thing if a person wants to do it, but to expect someone to do something which could potentially hurt them in order to protect someone else is a bad idea in my opinion. Not sure I completely agree with that, but I think there's some truth in there somewhere. That is probably at the core of what's wrong with HIV prevention today... But there's even more to it... Bareback porn shows poz guys having great sex lives, looking awesome, etc. Then you know poz friends and you see for most guys it's a bit of a hassle, but it's far from the end of the world, and people do the risk vs. reward calculations in their head and then some decided to live out their fantasies - whether that's laying ass up in a bathhouse and taking loads, or just not saying 'no' to a hot guy who wants to fuck them raw... You can read the entire transcript here - http://www.thebody.com/content/art57151.html?getPage=1 So what are your thoughts on their discussion? I think they had enough different perspectives that they got a lot of things right. -
How Risky Is Barebacking? Per incident risk quantified...
rawTOP replied to rawTOP's topic in HIV/AIDS & Sexual Health Issues
There can be a lot of reasons. Since we can't get at the study it's hard to say what they might be, but the smaller the sample size the more likely there will be outliers - and one study in one city is likely to have a small sample size. However, we can say conclusively that HAART is not the reason - there are a ton of studies showing lower viral levels throughout the body when the person is on ARVs - not zero, but still drastically lower than someone who isn't on meds. And yes, we know lower viral loads = lower transmission. The Swiss Statement is something you should familiarize yourself with if you're wondering about that. -
I bred a beefy Asian guy on Friday who looked like a young Samoan warrior - beefy and muscular - INCREDIBLE ass... Flooded his hole with a HUGE 9 day load that just kept pouring out of my dick...

How Risky Is Barebacking? Per incident risk quantified...
rawTOP replied to rawTOP's topic in HIV/AIDS & Sexual Health Issues
I can't find the Sydney article in Medline, which is odd. The Varghese study was a study of studies, so it aggregated and averaged results found in many studies on the subject of per-incident risk. The Varghese study was also based on an enormous amount of testing that was done in the US. I don't think the Syndey study can have the same statistical certainty that the Varghese study can have. In addition the Varghese study was mostly drawing from pre-ARV research studies, so it should be a worst case scenario and things should be better now. -

It's important to note that your risk does not increase per incident. It's always the same, but the cumulative risk increases. The other thing to look at in these studies is when the data are from. If I remember correctly this particular study used pre-ARV data, so now that most poz guys are undetectable the risks are much less. -
Long Term Non-Progression Explained
rawTOP replied to rawTOP's topic in HIV/AIDS & Sexual Health Issues
My understanding was that a partial CCR5 mutation slowed the replication of HIV in the body and thereby reduced viral loads and slowed the progression. I think I was using the wrong definitely of "long term non-progressors". I was including slow progressors which apparently are a different group entirely. -
Here's an article which goes into some of the new research on "long term non-progressors" (the people who are poz and never get sick or needs meds) - happens about 1 in 200 people with HIV... http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/dpps/health/best-aids-defense%3A-good-genes-luck-dpgoha-20100702-fc_8445366 I'm a little confused by the article myself. I always though long term non-progressors were the people who were "HIV-resistant" due to a partial CCR-5 gene mutation. The article says it's actually due to cell-surface proteins called HLAs. Maybe the people who are resistant are just slow progressors (as opposed to non-progressors). Either way, I really think people should know where they stand on these things early on in being poz since it affects their treatment plan. There's no point rushing into meds if you're body can handle things on its own.

I think the clinic literature (and even advice from "counselors") totally overstates the risk to the top. That said, the risk isn't zero and if you're unlucky (or just destined to get it) it can happen all sorts of "low risk" ways... -

Not Wanting To Get Tested For HIV
rawTOP replied to twinkcc's topic in HIV/AIDS & Sexual Health Issues
[i just broke these posts off into their own thread so we didn't have two different discussions going on at the same time.] TwinkCC raises an interesting dilemma - with kids start to bareback when they're very young it's pretty complicated for them when it comes to STDs and the like. In other posts he's said he started barebacking at 13. So what does someone like him do for the next 5 or 6 years before they're out from under their parent's watchful eye? OK, the parent might not be that watchful - they don't know their kid is getting loads of cum in their ass, but they will find out if the kid gets an STD or tests poz. If they're in a major city there will probably be a clinic they can go to for confidential medical care (here in NYC Callen Lorde has the HOTT program for teens), but what if the kid isn't in a major city and only has access to the family doctor? No wonder some of them don't want to know - they think the social impact with their family is far worse than anything HIV can do. But the problem is that if they got HIV early (at 13 or 14) they'll be waiting too long to get diagnosed and it will really have a huge impact on their health and life expectancy. -
Most of the people I know socially have no clue I'm rawTOP. In fact, most don't even know I make about half my money off porn. I just say I do web and database projects and if they ask questions I tell them about my mainstream clients. My bf and really close friends know pretty much everything. Then there's a group who know I work on porn, but don't know which sites are mine. There was a time when I was going around fucking guys bareback and my bf didn't know much of anything. But we worked all that out 5+ years ago. I don't tell him every time I fuck someone, but if he asks, I answer truthfully. @tampafun - Do you worry about becoming poz and giving it to your girlfriend?

Interesting you post this after some of your more negative comments in other threads. I see where you're at now - you're in the angst phase. It will pass and you'll be a lot more accepting in the next year or two. Just remember the angst is all self-created. You can end it whenever you want to by just giving in and becoming a cumdump. The other details will just sorta sort themselves out. It's actually good I saw this post 'cause after reading your comments about neg sub bottoms and poz guys disclosing their status I was wondering what to do with you - not sure I wanted that level of negativity on the forum. Do try to be a bit more accepting of others in your comments. I'm really trying to make sure people never feel attacked here.

You're asking the poz guy to be responsible for the neg guy's health. The poz top's only responsibility is to not lie when asked. The neg guy is responsible for his own health. Sorry, but I'm a firm believer in personal responsibility. I also believe in 90+% of the cases the guy who becomes poz pozzed himself by taking risks of one sort or another. No. Not closed at all for a number of reasons. First, not that many gay guys die of HIV/AIDS these days - smoking kills 5 times more gay guys than HIV, and people aren't all that concerned about smoking. And on top of that the people who are dying are people who found out too late, have had it for a very long time (pre-ARVs), or just don't follow their doctor's advice about treatment. The issue these days is not so much whether you become poz, but whether you get tested quickly enough so you start treatment in a timely manner.

I used to think I wanted a Prince's Wand too... Then I tried sounding. The urethra is incredibly sensitive. I may still get a short one one of these days, but I'm not jonesing for it like I used to.

I've never gotten a tattoo 'cause I couldn't imagine one that would look good on me. I mean I think tattoos look great on thin and muscular guys, but not sure I like them so well on guys with my body type. Here's a pic of my body from last year anyone want to suggest a tattoo that would look good on me? I should mention I think tattoos look best when they've got a design to them. I really don't like random tattoos on random parts of the body. If I had to get one now I'd probably say something on my shoulder or maybe an entire "sleeve" tattoo (though that would take a fair amount of commitment). Oh, the other reason why I don't get a tattoo is 'cause I hate needles... At least with piercings the needle part is over quickly.

Can True Submissive Bottoms Reasonably Expect To Stay Neg?
rawTOP replied to rawTOP's topic in General Discussion
I think #10 is saying it's your responsibility to clean up after your master. If he makes a mess of your ass and you get an STD as a result, you need to take care of it quickly. I think #10 also means when you become poz you should do whatever your doctor says so you reduce your downtime due to illness. Imagine if you could get to that point now... A 21 y.o. fuckhole slave would be a prized possession for just about any serious master. -
Yeah, I've damaged bottom's holes (temporarily) with my PA. One of those times was a gangbang and the bottom wasn't able to take more dick after that, and then it came out that one of the other tops who had fucked the bottom was poz (when he said he was neg), and there was a whole bunch of drama since I had really roughed up his hole when it was full of poz cum. He later tested neg. Either he's immune/resistant or the poz top was undetectable and shooting blanks. Tops who constantly pull out and shove back in would damage the hole even more. It's not a gentle fuck no matter how you do it.
-
Just curious - the first time you got fucked - did you take the cock raw or did the top rubber up? What year was it? (Was it before ARVs came out?) If you rubbered up, was it because you wanted him to or because he insisted on it? In my case it was early 1990. He did a few strokes bareback (which worried me), but then rubbered up.
-
Worse - if you actually "get to know" the guy before sex it may kill your hardon. YEARS ago when I'd do that I almost never had sex with guys after I heard their life story. They were "nice", but I wasn't looking to fuck "nice". ALWAYS fuck, then get to know the guy - or just fuck and don't get to know the guy - even better!

Not Wanting To Get Tested For HIV
rawTOP replied to twinkcc's topic in HIV/AIDS & Sexual Health Issues
Well put. When you look at the data the people who are dying of AIDS these days fall into two categories - 1) People who've been poz for a long time and are dealing with problems that started before they starting taking modern ARVs and 2) People who don't get tested and don't find out until it's too late and HIV has totally fucked up their immune system. Notice both groups are people who took ARVs after the damage had been done. So get tested - at least every couple years (preferably every year). You can live a very long life if you know your poz and do what your doctor tells you to do. That's not something to be scared of.
