it's funny that the soap opera parodies (Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman had a gay couple who kissed onscreen) dealt with gay storylines before the actual soap operas did. it's also kinda profound that gay stereotypes were present in films as early as 1910, when of course there was no sound and much of the audience didn't speak english but could still know what they were seeing.
