Almost all the drug companies have assistance programs that will defray most if not all the cost of medication. Tigers advice is really good. Stop trying to go about this alone, and look for resources in your area. If you are near NYC, I am 100% sure Newark has some kind of health center dedicated to HIV. You will be fine. It will take a while but you will be fine.

those usually have a somewhat inflexible outside ring that probably wouldnt work for a guy his size.

BB Gay Porn Star Kicked Out of High School
wood replied to toxiclover's topic in Bareback Porn Discussion
devils advocate: It also may have been for the kids safety that he was initially kicked out. If you read on it does say that he was allowed back in, which i was 99% sure would happen if it was a public HS. While I don't agree with kicking him out, I can see how it could easily be a major disruption to the school. IMO, I bet the school suspended him to allow for a cooling off period in the school. -
There is no easy way to answer your question. As always a big factor is how well your immune system functions. the wikipedia article has some good information on MRSA. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methicillin-resistant_Staphylococcus_aureus In short its nothing to mess with and can cause major infections even in healthy populations. I have had a couple friends get it, and they were all young or middle aged and healthy. The major issue is overuse of antibiotics. Too many people take antibiotics when their body will naturally clear an infection. I have a few friends like that, where EVERYTIME they have a slight sniffle they rush to the doctor and demand antibiotics, which for the vast majority of the time wont do shit. However if you suspect you have MRSA, as others have said, EVERYTHING needs to be cleaned with powerful disinfectants, including stuff like trashcans. Otherwise it can come back.

22yo Missouri student exposed 30+ partners to HIV and filmed it
wood replied to njverscumdump's topic in General Discussion
But they agreed to raw sex under false pretenses. For better or worse, here is the way things work now for people who are "neg" or don't know. partner 1 "are you clean" partner 2 "yes, as of my last test" partner 1 "cool, fuck me bare" In the eyes of the law, this is probably enough to get the case thrown out. Even if the test was a year ago. Or even this. partner 1 "are you clean" partner 2 "yes, you?" partner 1 "me too, do me raw? partner 2 "hell yeah" All the language is so ambiguous, but there is some disclosure. But at least in the US court system, it introduces reasonable doubt. From the article, it seems as if Mr Johnson didn't do anything, and said "no" when asked if he had any sexual diseases, and thats the issue. At this point if this is making the news I am sure that he, and the courts know, that he knew he was HIV+ well before this story broke, so pleading ignorance isn't going to work. he knew and he did it anyway, and he will pay the price. For this case to get thrown out it would have to be proven that he either a) had no idea he was HIV+, or actually told all his partners that he was HIV+, thus giving disclosure. The big issue here is the lying. This is just my opinion, but here is what I think occurred. I bet he was diagnosed about 18-20 or so, and is on medication. I bet he originally was into older guys, who played raw. One infected him, and then he didn't want to give up playing raw. He read up its very hard to transmit when on meds, so he kept doing it, even in a relatively close environment like a college campus. He didn't tell any partners on campus for fear of being ostracized and humiliated. He's a hot guy so he had several partners and at some point his luck ran out. Maybe the gonorrhea he got made his viral load rise, who knows. Now this is just my personal speculation, but IMO he was young dumb and full of cum, and is gonna pay the price. Not that I even think he is "dumb" per se, but made some dumb decisions. -

I agree on the psychological assessment part, but To me this looks like a case of criminal HIV transmission. I have no interest in demonizing people with HIV, but this guy seems full well to know what he was doing. I also fully understand that having unprotected sex with a guy who is on meds and undetectable is much less risk than a guy who doesnt get tested and doesnt know his status, However there is still a risk. For me, hell I would sleep with him now, hes just my type. BUT, I'm on PrEP, and now knows he's HIV+ So I can make that choice. He took that choice away for the people he lied to. Whatever his reasoning, he is gonna pay the price for this. A state like Missouri is NOT going to take kindly to this, and a guy like him will be really popular in prison. The main thing is, this is why I ALWAYS tell guys who are HIV+ to tell partners their status. You really never know who could flip out if they find out you are HIV+ and didn't disclose your status. In most places it is illegal not to disclose, and that can be a very serious crime. This guy could get life, and in a conservative state like Missouri I would be on 20+ years. -
Im a white guy who almost exclusively dates black guys, and I agree with you in theory, I dont like that language, and would never do it. However, its also not my place to judge what turns others on.

Life expectancy if I get pozzed at 23?
wood replied to mike_thieriot's topic in What's It Like To Be Poz?
Its not bashing younger members, its asking for advice, and not liking the answer, thats what you are doing. You asked a question that has a far more complex answer than just "yes you should live to 60 or 70" When we tried to give you more of a realistic view, you didnt want to hear it. The fact is that many of the older members in here have dealt with HIV for a long time, some like bearbandit work professionally in the field, they KNOW what they are talking about more than you, thats just a fact. You seem to talk offense to that, when you shouldn't. You say you want respect and advice, but you don't want to listen because it align with your preestablished desires. -
I REALLY wonder what his compliance was and what else he was doing. PrEP when taken correctly is more effective than condoms on a statistical basis. Since it says you are in the UK he should be studied if he seroconverted, and if he was taking it correctly an converted he would be one of the first in any of the trials. In all the prior trials the people that converted were the ones who didnt take it daily as described. ANd really if you REALLY dont want HIV, even condoms dont lower your risk to 0. The only true way to stay neg is to not have sex, or just have sex with one know neg person, who NEVER sleeps around.

I hate to break this to you, but I am being nicer than almost anyone else in the general population about this. The vast majority of people will think you are an idiot by saying things like "I have already made up my mind to be pozzed" I never called you an idiot, I explained all my statements, and simply urged you to think long and hard before you make a lifelong decision. I dont know how to be more politically correct about it. Again this is a DISCUSSION BOARD, there will be differing opinions. -

I should have worded that better, I was referring to the federal assistance programs (ryan white programs) for HIV treatment. Not PrEP cost. Federal assistance for HIV drugs starts to taper off after 40k. -
Also while its far from always true, for many the "fuck flu" isnt like a cold where you take some dayquil and go about your business, its feeling like death and you cant get up for several days.

Life expectancy if I get pozzed at 23?

You're believing what you want to believe. And no 10k a year is NOT the norm for middle class guys. Almost EVERYONE qualifies for some level of assistance from gilead. I have a friend who makes well into the 6 figures, and he gets it for $30 after his insurance copay and gilead assistance. And you say its not for you, but why? Give me a good argument, and I always shut up. But just like if anyone in here would say, I want MS, diabetes, Parkinsons, certain cancers etc, I would say you probably need to talk to a psychiatrist. People saying they don't care if they get HIV, and there is nothing they can do about it are just wrong. Also PrEP is pretty much the closest thing to a cure or vaccine we have now. It will effectively prevent most infections. Even with its cost, if that's not a panacea, I don't know what is. Of course its everyone choice to live their life the way they choose, and sure you can think for yourself, but that doesnt mean you are right, or even that what you think is right for you. There are plenty of people that make decisions for themself that end up being catastrophically wrong. I'm just giving more information and a bit of a reality check. -

okay well that alone (and I bet can even acknowledge this is a piss poor argument). Because your "solution" is to get the disease you are trying to prevent, and (in the case of the US) have the government pay for the drugs you now need to survive UNLESS you make over roughly 40k a year in which case you will probably pay close to that 10k level if not more, again, to LIVE, not just as prevention. Also there is this. https://breeding.zone/threads/23614-Low-Cost-(or-Free)-PrEP Most people pay little to nothing for PrEP. (I pay nothing) http://www.northdrugstore.com/buy-Truvada.html or there is this, and you get the genaric version for $800 a year. -

You can say I am being preachy, but I am just giving the information that I know, just because you dont like what you hear doesnt mean I am being preachy. In fact the only thing I have said that is even rude is "young dumb, and full of cum" and that is not meant to be disparaging, its a euphemism for very sexually vile young guys. I would have described myself like that at some point. Secondly I don't follow you on the 10,000 per year... lastly I posted this on the other thread, but answer this well and I will leave you alone: Why become poz if you dont have to, and what benefit would I get by becoming HIV+ If anyone can give me a good logical answer to that question I will leave and never return. I also strongly implore you to actively ask yourself that same question. -
as always if I come off as condescending I do apologize, but public health is something I'm passionate about. I know what too many people that think HIV is no big deal until they actually deal with all the side effects they never think will matter. That's when the "fantasy" becomes reality that isnt nearly as fun. Additionally if what I am saying is making you or anyone else uncomfortable or anything else, that might be because I am giving you some information that may go against what you wish. Also you are not naive for reading that, and getting the information you wish. You are naive because reading certain sections on this site about whats its like to be poz is like reading fox news to see why obama is the devil, you will just get what you want. Read the ENTIRE site, then read other site about what HIV means. http://www.thebody.org is a great HIV resource site. You can go in the gift giving, etc forum all day and people will congratulate you on being poz, say its so hot, share it, etc, but really where are those people gonna be when you meet a neg guy who really loves you, and you love them, where are they gonna be if you actually become sick because of the "gift" you choose to get. If you think im condemning condomless sex, im not. With PrEP, there is NO reason to become poz. Also for the "disclaimer" aspect there is one now. You actively have to opt in to those forums now, Whereas a couple months prior you didnt. There is disclaimers all over this site. For that exact reason, one day you blame someone else for the fantasy you decided to live out. Hell even the creator of this site is all for PrEP, and saying close to the same thing I am now. Why become poz if you dont have to, and what benefit would I get by becoming HIV+ If anyone can give me a good logical answer to that question I will leave and never return. I also strongly implore you to actively ask yourself that same question.

If you are neg go on PrEP now. There is no reason not to. Despite what may be glorified on this site, there is NO, ZERO, ZIP, NADA, ZILCH benefit to becoming HIV+ Like I said before it just makes everything more difficult. I'm neg on PrEP and dating an HIV+ undetectable guy right now. He would do ANYTHING to be neg again. The only reason we have a normal sex life is because of PrEP, and that I'm educated on HIV, and not scared of HIV+ people, most people are not so open. PrEP is a game changer that allows a sex life without condoms with a low chance of acquiring HIV. Its not about life expectancy, even with HIV people can lead (length wise) a pretty normal life, but it complicates everything else. -

My tone is honest, I'm not trying to berate you, and if it comes off that way I apologize, nothing I am saying is personal, its just fact. Guys at their sexual peak make stupid decisions in regards to sex, that's a fact, we all do. Of course there may be a cure in your lifetime, but there may also not be. a couple years after HIV was discovered doctors were confident they could get a cure or vaccine within a couple years, and its been 25 years since then. The simple fact is HIV is a chronic illness, and willfully choosing to get that illness when you don't have too is not a logical thing to do. Especially with PrEP, which I an very confident will be available in Canada soon. I'm not saying I understand whats going on in your head, but you may want to do a self evaluation before you put yourself in a situation where you deal with something for life. And quite frankly despite what is glamorized on here HIV makes ANYONES life much more complicated, even sex, which you think it will free you to have as much as you want. -

No, you dont. You have a fantasized idea of what you want. and have you ever thought of stuff like, *what if I dont respond to many treatments *what if I fall in love with a neg man, who cant stomach being with a HIV+ guy *what if I get some other illness that HIV makes MUCH worse (my friend got anal cancer at 28, after he tested HIV+) *what if I get a fantastic opportunity somewhere else in the world, where getting medication may not be possible *what if I regret my young and stupid thinking. etc, etc, etc. Food for thought, When I was 22, I wanted a kid really bad, and was actually sleeping with girls and not using condoms. Looking back, it would have been one of the worst decisions I ever could have made. -
Thats pretty much the case, but it also depends on when you last ate, what your ate before, your GI track, etc, etc. But yes, long story short, the rectum is empty most of the time. Its main job is to hold feces right before a B.M. and absorb excess water.

Honestly you sounds incredibly naive right now. You say you have "made up your mind" about becoming poz, why? just because of bare sex? No offense, but chances are you are young dumb, and full of cum, and that's whats talking right now. Not your logical side. I'm assuming you are 23, you are still going to make some stupid decisions, I wouldnt make one you have forever. Also you say that you are "okay" living to only 55-60, and whats funny is you say that now, but I almost guarantee you if the grim reaper came at that time you would be begging for more time. Ask anyone older. Life goes FAST. Im 30 now, and it only seems like yesterday I was starting undergrad. Ask anyone who is in their 50's or 60's and they will tell you as time passes it only goes faster. Long story short, dont be dumb now and have to deal with it the rest of your life. Wait a year or so till PrEP is available in Canada then have more bare sex. You DON'T want to become poz. -
Its only essential jobs that are really scrutinized for medical evaluation in aviation, IE pilot. There are PLENTY of HIV+ flight attendants around. A few are friends of mine.
-
He's in the UK.
-
err yes, and no, aviation, and other certain careers have whole other sets of rules that don't fall under discrimination laws because they directly involve the safety of others. Before effective treatment, HIV+ people couldn't do all sorts of jobs, be a pilot, practice certain kinds of medicine, etc. Now the vast majority of those laws and bans have been lifted because there is so little risk. Even with that said those kinds of jobs still reserve the right to revoke a license to practice. For example it would be entirely possible (although extremely unlikely at this point) for HIV to be reinstated as a ban to becoming a commercial pilot, if say it was shown that in the long term drugs that treat HIV cause brain damage and impaired judgement. In that case I have to agree. I don't want to discriminate against anyone but I will be damned if I would want a pilot with brain damage taking me somewhere. Being medically cleared to be a commercial pilot is someone of an odd process. You can have a "healthy" guy thats 35, smokes two packs a day, and only eats fried food, and as long as there is no immediate threat, he's fit to fly, However, If he has a heart attack he would be lucky to ever return to the cockpit. Epilepsy is another thing that disqualifies a lot of wanna be pilots. One or two seizures can disqualify them very quick. However to the OP, non of this is really relevant to your case as an aircraft engineer.
