Not to derail the topic, but I’m good of the married “straight” pretty boy type. Random hookup is cool but I’m not jumping through a whole bunch of hoops just to meet once a month. Good discussion here. But like I said before in another post, I am not going to get the white guys all the credit. Most of the racism I have experience from gays have been from Latins and Asians, many who come from cultures of anti-black racism. Most of the racism I’ve seen from white guys ate usually guys who are insecure. However, from my experience, I’d say the the ratio of non-white racism is 70/30 from the people o have encountered in the gay community. I kind of compare it to young gangster or a person who wants to join the Sicilian mob who is really not Sicilian. It’s like they have to go above and beyond and prove something to themselves psychologically. Many have made a deal with themselves and society: in exchange for not fighting for equality we will settle as being number two in society. As long as we are not treated as blacks. Many of the people you see defending racism are not white people at all, but other “people of color” who see themselves as a buffer class. Sure , they’ll never be white (despite how they choose to classify themselves for how much they try to “clean up” their history) but as long as they can get a few crumbs, and maintain sexual and social access to white men, they will gladly participate and even defend full on racism.

Racism is the maldistrtution of wealth and resources and access to those resources to one segment of people based on race and that unequal distribution is codified by law and custom. That is much different than someone serving you burnt toast in a diner.

This being the General Discussion section of the site, and given the description of this section, I was Under the impression we were at liberty to discuss non sexual topics in this part of the forum. Also, when I comment, it’s as a black man, because I found many “people of color” will use that status to provide protection, cover, of flat out justify racism all in an effort to not offend and ultimately maintain sexual access to a certain demographic of people. As I’ve said before, most of the racism Ive experienced are by non whites (Asians, latins, etc.). Understanding the history of many of these cultures, I see why.

I think you are correct, but on these current times I believe a lot black people, especially in the gay community, are starting to develop more pride and respect for themselves. They are no longer looking for validation from the so called elite gay, especially sexually. Sure you have still have, and always will have, a few guys who need a white guy to the point they literally beg. But among the people I know, the “if I see a naked black guy I’ll hurl” line doesn’t have the same affect it’s intended to have. Most just simply move on. And as an aside, I have rarely, if ever, encountered rudeness or racism from a “hot” white guy. With White guys, it’s the mediocre or uncessessful guys who are the most racist. You know, like the 35 year old barista at the coffee shop or the guy who folds sweaters at the GAP part time? As if they are somehow telling themselves being exclusive to white guys will make me hotter, alot more successful and associating with blacks will only further damage my self esteem.

Not necessary responding to this quote, but using it as a springboard. I just think it’s funny how when the topic of racism in the gay community comes up, a lot folks always run to sex so the can hide their racism under the cloak of preference. They never talk about the crappy way they treat black people in a professional environment (see the lawsuit against the city of SF), social environment, or even how they react to friends who may have black friends. Many of you say “preference,” yet have zero black friends, won’t hire/promote any Black people, hate your black neighbors, or treat your black customers/clients differently. I really don’t care if you have sex with me or not (their are thousands of dudes out there), but when I walk into your business, don’t tell me something is double the price you told the white guy.
