And of course that douche bag Michael Weinstein is just giddy with glee. He can taste his goal of banning all non-condom porn and I'm sure he prays ever night for more people in the industry to get HIV.

 

What's odd is he tested negative, but apparently very quickly reached a level where he could infect others. Usually HIV isn't the fastest working virus out there and takes its time to replicate which is why people don't get the fuck flu 2-3 days after exposure unlike what happens if we're exposed to the regular flu or even a cold. Those hit hard and fast.

Hmm... this is definitely a wait and see situation on all that's happened.  Once again, we'll need to pay exact attention to the details to find out what happened exactly.  We all know that some times, we'll get "hearsay" answers that's false, compared to actual truth.  :/

The devil is in the details.  Does the guy who tested neg but then poz a couple weeks later and thus the one who infected his scene partner a drug user, escort who will bareback with clients, is he a big load taking anonymous sex pig something that might explain the rapid change in his viral load.  Not sure what studio it could be Mania Media does shoots in NV, 999% sure it is not Treasure Island cause I don't recall then doing any scenes in NV.

Exactly.  Hence my point about the details.  A lot of us will do what we can to keep tabs about the situation since after the fiasco of the censorship in the UK and now this....the stuff we can all enjoy that's consensual, starting to reach a turning point.  :/

One fact that will take some of the wind out of the anti bareback porn crowds sails is this news released by the FSC an industry trade group:

 

The shoots in question did not adhere to the PASS testing protocols and were shot outside of the PASS testing database used by adult performers. Not only did this leave those who participated at risk, it made it much harder to track scene partners once the possible infection was discovered.

While the set did use a degree of HIV testing, it fell below the standard set by PASS protocols, including the use of an ELISA HIV tests, rather than the highly sensitive RNA tests required by the industry. The ELISA tests have large window periods that delay how early an infection can be detected, and have not been accepted within the adult industry for over a decade.

Neither did the shoot utilize the PASS database. However, once alerted by the DPH to the incident, the Free Speech Coalition worked swiftly to shut down production within the larger industry and help track any possible exposures in or out of the PASS database. While performers in the PASS database were not affected, participants on the non-compliant shoot may have been exposed.

Still sucks that it happened unintentionally, but that's a surefire sign that it's not quite a "by the books" type of company that this happened.

It's not the first time it's happened on a porn set - I think that goes without saying.

 

You could factor in all the cases that aren't even recognised (either the neg guy isn't getting tested by the studio or in his private life between shoots, or he's just having that much sex he doesn't know what came from where). But Paul Morris has alluded in the past to the fact that guys have switched status' in front of the TIM cameras. I suspect it would've been willingly though..

 

I think the formerly neg guy is the one making this into a massive shit storm. I mean, how else could it have blown up as quickly, especially if it's something the studio want to keep a secret. It actually made national headlines here in Australia ('cause, you know, all we care about is sex and kangaroos).. 

 

No one is forced into porn, at least the publicly released kind. You make a choice in exposing yourself to the potential risk - studios and fellow "actors" test regularly and disclose their history, so they do what they can. But if you're not comfortable with the risk, or the potential therof - go work for Randy Blue. It's the same raw vs. condom argument everyone's involved in, it's just transported to a more professional setting. It sucks this happened, but the guy's life isn't over. He'll still get work, even in porn if he so chooses to continue. 

 

I like the point above though.. if PrEP were widely available and used, then this would likely have never happened in the first place..
