How it works is pretty simple. Being gay wasn't illegal; *having sex with someone of the same sex* was illegal. You're conflating orientation and activity.

I'm gay. I *could* have sex with a woman, but that wouldn't make me straight (or bisexual).

That doesn't make laws restricting sex between consenting adult partners acceptable. But those are not the same thing as making being gay illegal.

And you are splitting hairs.

You are correct.

I’ve read through all the posts so far on this thread about black/white racism in porn, and I’m astonished that nobody has mentioned the obvious, I mean, really obvious, reason there isn’t much porn depicting white Tops on black bottoms. Topping is an inherently dominant, and often aggressive, act. Bottoming is generally a passive, sometimes submissive act. Now, picture a white man dominating a black man, and what instantly springs to mind? Racism.

Interesting discussion. I do think the thread’s title is a bit hyperbolic and obscures a true issue. Now, I saw the above post and had to respond, because though I get what the poster is saying, it doesn’t really line up with the history of race in America - and let’s be clear folks, most of the racial craziness and fixation in the world is in America.

Historically in America black men have been portrayed as sexual deviants, perverts, rapists and Mandingos. So, no - racism is not what “springs to mind” when a black man bottoms. Racism springs to mind when black tops are constantly fetishized.  In fact, race neutral gay porn where race doesn’t predetermine who bottoms helps offset the racist stereotypes prevalent in America. These are the same stereotypes that drive BBC fetish in both gay and straight porn and in the gay community. We can’t seem to get past the view that the black man’s place is one of deviant dominance.

One can even see this view in some of the fiction on this site, where “chasing” success is assured if one finds the “dirty” dominant BBC.

People don’t want to talk about it. It’s easy to say “go make your own porn” to shut off discussion and debate. It’s far simpler to tut-tut about how people are “too sensitive” and “it’s all about fun.”

Look, people will still get off. In the larger scheme of things, with a burning planet and uncertain politics, this topic is meaningless. But it does speak to larger issues that can’t be swept under the rug because certain people love their fetishes and are comfortable.

When the dominant media doesn’t include you, you don’t feel included. Plain and simple.

It’s not so much that racism is what springs to mind when a black man bottoms - it’s that it’s what springs to mind when a white man is seen to be Topping a black bottom. As is and was always the case, what constitutes racism is not what the oppressed individual does or thinks, but rather what is done to or thought about him.

I actually think your point about a presumption of black “deviant dominance” (I quote it only because I’m not sure I agree that the ‘deviant’ part is as prevalent as the ‘dominant part) and fetishism of black tops fits in very well with my argument - it’s perceived as “acceptable” - i.e., not racist - to fetishize a black man dominating a white man sexually because that somehow reverses the dominant/submissive power structure that led to black disenfranchisement in the first place. Naturally, from the point of view of a man of color, it’s just another way of being judged by the color of his skin, and no less offensive, but that, I think, is probably the rationale behind it.

I struggle greatly with how to explain the phenomenon in my personal experience that a very significant majority of the most superior breedings I have ever recieved have been by black Tops. I am very much of a scientific turn of mind, and reject stereotypes. A black man is first a man, an individual with a mind, tastes, thoughts, experiences, hopes, loves and desires, and somewhere, way farther down the line of importance, his skin also has a higher proportion of melatonin. As I mentioned previously, my Autism leaves me “colorblind” to some degree in terms if race, so I can safely say I neither fetishize black Tops nor believe that the fact that a Top is black automatically means that he will have a big cock, have a large group of friends he can call for group sex at a moment’s notice, or likes his sex in any particular way.

Yet there it is - over hundreds of fucks, my observation has been that the men of color have provided the most memorable sex, by a significant margin. Can any inference be drawn from this? Should we scrupulously avoid drawing any inference for fear of applying racial bias to the interpretation of the empirical data? Is there even a “safe” way to suggest that for whatever reason black men seem more at ease with their bodies, without automatically injecting race into it? I’m not sure there is.

Love the respectful and thoughtful post Eroswire! I guess the targeted subject of "racism" would be the ultimate judge of what is and what is not racism. As a black man, I don't see a white man topping a black person as racist at all. Sure, if the white person was wearing a white hood and singing "Dixie," my thoughts would change!

Deviant and dominant go together in porn, whether straight or gay. It's "taboo" to see black and white so it's against societal norms, still. Silly - yes indeed. Let's be honest -- a lot of us do get our kicks from the dark side (literally in this case). We push the boundaries -- an understatement on a site called "breeding zone!"

The black-white dynamic is a sexual shorthand that is based in a long-ugly history that many of us simply just want to go away. Such thoughts disappear with changes in culture like in movies, etc.

I remember being with my first white person - a woman -- when I was younger, and yes, the sensations for both of us felt heightened because such relationships were still the stuff of whispers where I lived. Now I simply didn't care and times are changing. So I get and empathize with your "superior breeding" experiences. There really is no inherent difference though, between sex with one "race" and sex with another -- it's just dick size, environment and chemistry.

Can’t we all just get a long (dick)

Yes Pozlover1. I want to be bred for the first time so badly it hurts!  I guess I'm pretty conservative about such a step and want to make sure it's the right person -- white, black, purple, whatever! Not looking for poz play yet for sure, though I can almost feel that long dick in me now, taking my first time forever...

I wouldn't term it as a racism here. I would say it is more stereotypical. Stereotypical as most think of the black man as the man with a big cock who needs to top most of the time. And I'd say we need to break that. Porn studios need to have variety rather than keeping the black man on top most of the time.

I enjoy watching a black man as a top, but I also enjoy watching a black man being topped. I would love to see more black men being bottoms in porn for sure.

Sex is a mixture of love and lust. It is nice to see a black man and a white man do each other with lots of passion and lust. I agree with the OP that we do need to see more black men bottoming in porn

I don't like watching black tops fucking in porn, I find them somewhat disrespectful, they treat the bottoms like pieces of meat I have  heard a few bottoms of any race saying stop but it basically turns into a rape act, forceful pinned down pumping, you can see the bottom are really uncomfortable and squirming to get away. the directors are black as well.   it's either acting or they generally don't give a shit as long as they cum inside or in general. I normally delete or skip if I see black guys topping. I'd rather watch a black bottom being fucked.

I have also experienced this in real life and a few of my friends have as well. After experience this I have never had sex with the black guy since.

The first lesson is to listen to people when they say they face racism. Dont listen to respond, just shut up and listen.

I've experienced racist comments and homophobic and racist comments from my black neighbours, I've discovered over the last three years that black straight people are really homophobic and racist, especially the females, black guys don't give a shit they just want to shoot the load.

I've been fortunate to get in life what porn only rarely offers and I've had many memorable/cherished experiences with men who weren't performing for money, but sharing themselves with me.
