Are you being serious right now? Catholics also are against gay sex.

Disturbingly, Catholic priests do seem to make some exceptions based on age.

Somewhere in The Vatican a bunch of guys just felt they've got burned and for now have no clue whatsoever why.

I'm not Catholic, but I met a RC Bishop once, and I thought he was a really nice, welcoming fellow. Anyway, guess who got arrested at the airport coming home from a solitary trip to Thailand and a laptop full of cp. He also had towed the Catholic line on marriage, turns out he'd been in a relationship with a guy for the previous 10 years. I don't think that even I am that evil.

There's an RC orphanage/facility for homeless boys/whatever, in Woodstock, IL (just west of Chicago) that has had a reputation of corrupting boys en masse for decades.  One of the raw porn stars (not sure what the name is) even mentioned it by name in an interview.  And the joint is still there, churning out used, injured, harmed boys (or, in some cases, burgeoning raw porn stars) for decades.  Personally, I think they must be part of the "supply-chain" for all those Queens in Rome, prancing around in their long dresses and ruby slippers.  First, the "graduates" are sent to the bishops, then the cardinals, then the arch-cardinals, and finally the Vatican itself.  After all - can't send inexperienced boys to the Vatican, now can we ........

There are two class action suits against Truvada currently. Do your homework, OP.

Are these about (physical) side effects when using Emtricitabine/Tenofovir (Truvada) and that these were not made clear enough by the manufacturer (Gilead Sciences)?
To the best of my knowledge as a layman these are known now the medication has been used for such a long time that the patent here in the EU and in the UK has expired and it has become a 'generic' medicine which is a lot cheaper to purchase. And as far as I know these side-effects are - besides coaching the drug-adherence - the reason why in a lot of places, testing and monitoring by a medical doctor or a specialised nurse is part of the program, including regular blood-work (liver-function).

My general advise is:
Talk to a physician, a doctor who's familiar with or reads up on PrEP-use when you think about using it and try to arrange regular check-ups through him or her, if that is possible.  (I've learned from @BootmanLA that for example some US states this may not be standard practice, if I remember en heard him correctly).

And I'd like to share that with y'all an important reason for myself not to use PrEP at presently is for financial reasons as PrEP here is not fully covered by Dutch medical plans. A very dull and banal reason I know.

I guess in a number of places, the use implantation of PrEP-use is not perfect. Sometimes it makes me daydream about emigrating but for now that's a rather radical step to take.
(But I promise to give foreign proposals of marriage from cute, funny, handsome, horny, hung and financially sound men with a high libido serious consideration). 😈

In my lengthy chitchat earlier I became guilty myself of opening this can of worms and although I love to trashing any religion that has outdated views on sexuality, homosexuality, gender-identity and -roles as much as the next man:

Let's get back on topic guys:
PrEP and it's pro's and con's why people can or can't, should or shouldn't use it.

(Bringing up that there is still a need for a real cure and perhaps some kind of vaccine, is probably part of the topic. But as I was the one that brought it up, I'm hardly an impartial judge. I intended my quips directed at religious institutions to point out that a surprising number of generally accepted social norms are only based on religious dogma and that these churches are - in my opinion - not equipped to give medical advice or guidance and certainly not where human sexuality is concerned).

not on prep.maybe should be.but not on it.

It's good you're thinking about it or have.
Getting HIV is no longer the end of the world if you have acces to proper healthcare.

On the other hand getting it is rather permanent and if you choose to explore PrEP as means of protection, perhaps start with reading up and talking to your own general practitioner (or the US equivalent) who knows your medical situation, or if you have regular checkups for STD's perhaps through such a (sexual-) health clinic?
Read up so you know what questions to ask, and take medical advice about your personal situation serious.

And in the end it's still your choice and your body.

A POV regarding PrEP perhaps worthy of contemplation....  PrEP is pretty much starting HIV meds in advance of infection.  Yes, indeed, it has an extraordinary ability to prevent HIV from infecting us; and thus avoiding a lifetime of HIV meds (potentially), indeed there are some who choose to just let the disease run its course).

With the majority of HIV poz guys on meds and undetectable, the infection rate has to be comparatively low (if one counts loads received to infections).

I tend to be centrist on the topic.  Then too years ago rawTOP brought up 23 and me to learn whether one is naturally resistant or essentially immune to HIV.  As I am "resistant" perhaps the most logical choice it to take my chances.  Being that this forum brings a lot of excellent discussion; I am curious how my BZ brothers view this?

It's a personal choice if you do or don't.  That's the heart of the matter really. Some love full unprotected sex as it is a turn on for them. Others use it to have safe fun. There is no right or wrong to it. Just enjoy what you like and have fun.

Generally speaking, doctors here do require fairly regular testing and consultations to continue on it. That said, the consultations can be by telemedicine - basically, zoom interviews - and there are some companies set up specifically to do just that - the doctors spend all day online running through one session after another. The quality of the "care" received in such sessions, of course, may vary considerably from provider to provider.

Letting AIDS run it's cause without medication results in death.
The numbers of HIV-infections are not dropping immensely, last time I read about the numbers.

What do you mean with centrist?
