I know I'm not going to add anything new to this discussion. I ldont feel like the fantasy of the straight guy being so desperate for money he'd do gay porn. When it comes to sexuality in the present day, shades of gray (notwithstanding the success of the book) aren't really tolerated.  We're slotted into pigeonholes that are inviolable, and anything that doesn't fit is cause for "refiling." So, I've read that the attitude in the Navy (at least at one point) was, if it ain't in the pier than it ain't queer, because you'd have guys at sea for months on end and stuff happens. But then even that is categorized as "situational homosexuality", same is true of prisons.
