Sadly I see this potentially happening in Florida.  They have already been targeting drag shows! If a parent chooses to bring a younger child, that's THEIR choice!

I've never seen children at drag shows here in Texas, but the ones I've been to have always been in bars which don't permit anyone under 21 anyway, so it wasn't really an issue.  The only other ones I've been to were in Las Vegas, but they were in places like Casino showrooms which had similar age restrictions.  I don't know what is going on in Florida or what places drag shows would be at that would permit children to begin with.

Online is a very different thing, and unfortunately something that most politicians of both parties really have a lousy understanding of.  Most of them are Boomers or Gen-Xers.  And although we're the generation that invented the Internet (contrary to what many Millennial and Gen-Zers believe), only techies in our generations (Gen-X techie here) usually get it.  Most politicians are lawyers or business people who have no clue about anything computer related at all.  And you can tell by some of the awful laws they write related to it.

The thing about age verification online is...  it's 110% horse manure.  It's impossible to do accurately, even more impossible than checking IDs at bars.  Too easy to get around, and too likely for people of age to be falsely banned.  And as has also been mentioned location determination online is similarly mostly BS and circumventible plus being a pain for people falsely located because of technical anomalies.

If politicians knew, or cared to understand, none of them would support these kinds of sham laws.  At best (in the eyes of the censors) all it will do is push more and more things to the "dark web" or off-shore (like gambling), etc.

There are bars/restaurants here like Hamburger Mary's which have drag brunches.  They are very family friendly.   Perhaps a few off color jokes that adults would get, but not kids.

Guys - this is why I keep saying WHO YOU VOTE FOR MATTERS!

Since public schools don't teach civics anymore, I wonder if anything will get through.

Dancing gayly through ignorance, assuming others will pick up the slack just won't cut it anymore.

If those kind of things are happening here, I've never heard about it.  Which given that I live in the Austin area, would be surprising if it was and I just hadn't heard.

Was thinking the exact same thing when I read OP. Local video store recently boarded up all their glory holes. Response from owner was the police were harassing them. Not sure if it's true; but wouldn't be surprised.

They know they have us over a barrel, as an attack on the freedom to express oneself sexually is never going to be met by any meaningful mass protest, move for injunction, or ballot box determination.

The real problem and thread running through all of this is the current VP. Is it any wonder that having shown herself to be in favour of vigorously prosecuting a racist set of laws when she was a DA, then votes for a law that would vastly reduce the income of workers from a certain industry via the FOSTA-SESTA Act, and would most likely to provide the casting vote if a ban on this freedom (which - unlike shouting "fire" in a movie theater - is actually a relatively benign adjunct and extension of people's First Amendment rights) is to be introduced? She's shown that she especially abhors black women (the income for those who rely on sex work would be affected even more than the short-lived decision last year by OnlyFans to exclude certain types of content), even though she and POTUS scream from the rooftops that they aren't racist. She needs to realise that the laws of her land and not supposed to be driven by the puritanical anti-female culture of that of her mother (which had been proven to be the most dangerous country in the world for women).

BTW, for any of you who question the "political angle" of this response, you may rest assured that I'd be saying exactly the same if the other side of swamp dwellers had the keys to that greyish building at 1600. Remember who ORIGINALLY introduced FOSTA-SESTA.

As for age verification through Credit Cards, there have been two massive data breaches in Australia as at late. One of the managers at my work saw $10,000 removed from his credit card in 6 hours when his details were leaked online. MASSIVE headache for him - and the other potential 13.8 million customers of two companies in Australia (Australia has a total population of 26 million). Imagine what would happen if everyone's personal details were stolen if a CCV site was hacked ...

Not really being political.  As least IMO @rawTOP isn't.

I think only time and combined efforts of many will change so that we stop trying to enforce social decisions about other individuals domain over their own body and self.

Don't assume I'm going to be disappearing. As RawTop suggests, there are options out there.

🙂  Good, I am glad you have a plan.  I read all of @rawTOP message on that; and not surprised if you were already aligned with one of his potential remedies.  I am too in case Wisconsin legislators jump on the legislative bandwagon.

They will, but hopefully the gov vetoes.

It's always ironic to me, the same groups of people complaining about laws that take away rights (ie: red flag laws) will lay down their rights to things like access to works of literature involving adult themes. You can own a hand gun when you're 13, but reading about sex and sexuality is illegal.

I'm putting the block in place later today since I'll be out-of-town on the 1st. I've already put it in place on rawTOP.com and my porn sites (e.g. bbbh.com, spunkbud.com, etc.) The way it's implemented on rawTOP.com is most similar to how it will be implemented here, so those of you in/around Louisiana, please feel free to test it out and let me know if you're blocked. If you're not blocked I can look into what is going wrong.

The block for the state of Louisiana has been enabled. If you're in Louisiana and not on a VPN, let me know and I can look into it. If you're on a VPN, turn it off and see if you can still access the site. (It's about making an effort to ensure it's working - helps the site legally).

In New Orleans here.  Without VPN enabled, I get a 302 Redirect error.  So your block is effective.

--EDIT--  Checked on multiple devices just to be sure.
