For once in my life my view is close to the consensus (I voted 5). Like others have said, three is a threeway. Four is closer, but in my limited experience, it tends to devolve into two two-ways, even if the partners swap out periodically. Five means that if everyone is playing, there's always something going on besides regular pairings of two - either one guy is getting it at both ends, or one guy is getting sucked and fucked at the same time, or he's getting DP'ed, or... well, almost any combination of things.

It's true that any even number of x players can devolve into x/2 pairings, but I think the more players, the less likely that is to happen.

And as others have noted, there's got to be a mix (and at least two bottoms). If there's one bottom, it's a gang bang, and that's not an orgy.

Well, if only one guy is bottoming and the other 4 are Topping, I guess it could be called a gangbang.  Ideally though, we'd need 10, 15 guys to call it a proper orgy - which is why most orgies take place at hotels, tubs, fuckjoints, etc.

Agreed. I would also point out that orgies are a participation sport, spectators always end up being spoilers.

I would say you need more than one bottom and more than 8 guys to make an orgy 

If there is only one bottom it is just a group … at best a gang bang (not to cast aspersions at a gang bang - but it is not an orgy)

my feeling is that for a orgy you need multiple people getting fucked and or sucking… and so enough tops / vers guys doing the fucking and getting sucked that everyone is actively participating- or recovering and waiting to use another hole
