It has been about a year since I quit taking prep. I have not had a lot on time, to be the slut I like to be. I went out 3 weeks ago to the local ABS, an took 4 loads in my ass. I was so turned on when I got home, I told the wife, and ask her about the annual trip to St Louis she takes for a conference in April. I plan on going with her for the 3 days like I did 2 years ago. She went to her conference, an I went to Club St Louis, and the Larry Flint Adult Theater. I wasn't on prep at the time, and lived with the risk. I did end up with gono and had to be treated 2 weeks after getting back. I got on prep after that but my kidney numbers come up on the 3 month check up, so I quit taking it. I am going back to the clinic to get tested and get back on prep for this trip. I'm sure it will take some of excitement out of not knowing if this will be the time I get knocked up, but at my age, I really don't want the health issues that go a long with it.

Have you asked your doctor about on demand PREP? It might not be as hard on your kidneys to take it when you get to occasionally be a slut as a fulltime regiment.

Indeed, PrEP doesn't have to be continuous.  Especially if risk is only occasional.  Get on it for the trip, enjoy the play (maybe have some doxyPEP along to deal with other potential infections).  Stop a week after you get home.

One reason to do this is that you already know you might have issues with HIV meds.  ARVs aren't less harsh than PrEP.
