I went through the piercing phase around that many years ago too. But I tired of the constant cleaning the steel (had 5 at the time), and finally decided to ditch them. It's close to 20 years since I got my PA. But I don't wear the jewelry consistently for two reasons. First, the remaining bridge is thin and a strong tug on the jewelry is apt to result in a meatotomy; which would end my ability to continue.
