And there are probably some psychological consequences of being citizen of a country that used to be 'greatest in the world' to 'that odd bunch which wants to annex Canada and believes that Ukraine invaded itself with Russian tanks'. So my position is that public should be concerned.. It visibly was during Occupy WS in 2011 (but it was about the money.) Not in the 'developed world'. Even if there will be drop in preemptive measures, the treatment of infected is really effective in slowing the spread of the disease on itself. On the other hand I think that if one can, one should work and earn a living for himself and state shouldn't poke to things that work well.

Hey guys could we for a moment linger on the abundance economy vs scarcity economy principles? As we all agree to, scarcity creates a pressure to allocation of resources. Not saying that it ensures that. But on a some basic level it works fine if the pressure is somewhat bearable. Eg. oil embargo of 1973 created pressure to reallocation of resources so strong, that France went nuclear in its electricity production (benefiting from this move even today)... So what happens when something becomes truly abundant? It sure change behaviour of all interested actors (not necessarily to better.) There is usually cost - gain balance many would seek no matter of what others might see as moral or immoral. Eg. if bread si free of charge (or at least cheap enough), why not to use it as animal feed. Or if electricity is cheap enough, why bother with conserving? Not all would behave this way, but many would. Surely, you could create "limited abundance" and leave the rest, but that would be same old system with just higher level of redistribution. Someone said (not exact quote): "The world is big enough to meet the needs of all, but small enough to meet all desires of a few."
