Yes, AIDS is simply a further progression of someone infected with HIV. Their immune system is totally compromised but still pass on the 'regular' HIV virus. PrEP will protect you against someone with pre-AIDS HIV or AIDS progressed HIV.

There are no vaccines that I know of for any STD aside from the various Hepatitis viruses. The other STDs that are more common are causes by a bacterial infection, so vaccines cannot be made against them. They are only treatable by antibiotics post-infection. Taking PrEP once a day is all that is necessary. Doubling up dosages won't help and might give you some light side effects (dizziness, nausea, etc).

PrEP is only effective after about 7 days of daily dosage. Then you must continue to take it daily for full protection. It only works against HIV. Any other STDs you are left totally vulnerable to. PrEP provides protection regardless of how many loads you take. There is no risk of HIV from him urinating in your ass either.

I'm a 27 year old that just started PrEP a week ago. So far no side effects aside from a little dizziness a little bit after I take it, but it has only happened once or twice. I have a question that came up after my appointment, so I figured I would just ask here: I only got a 30 day prescription because I need to go back to for them to test my kidney function. My doctor said to come back after 30 days for this and to get a refill on the prescription, but this doesn't make sense to me. Shouldn't I go back like around 25 days so I don't run out of Truvada and then have to 'restart the cycle'? I'd prefer to keep the drug in my system so I don't have to worry about the 7 days it takes for immunity to build up. Is there any rationale to going after 30 full days or should I go back after like 25 days?
