    I agree The 2024 election will have a huge impact on all of us. Living in a blue state (Massachusetts - where we now have a lesbian governor looking out for us) is great but …. For those of you living in a Purple state (or a purple district in a red state) - very selfishly I ask …. Can you stay there until after the election… and then move to your retirement dream town? if I could afford to I would move back home to Wisconsin to vote… and then of course I would move back to Boston … I would- states like Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania… they will be crucial to what happens to us in 2025 and beyond

    I think we need to remember it is a long time to nov 2024 Trump still needs to get through all of his court cases - and At some point they may start to hurt Biden could still stumble and fall (figuratively and/or literally) -and depending on when that could cause all sorts of drama and don’t forget the growing number of third party candidates- who have ABSOLUTELY no chance of winning but only have to shave off a few thousand votes in Wisconsin, Michigan, or Pennsylvania to flip the state from blue to red ….. it is going to be a long year- I think I am going to need a lot of random anonymous rough sleazy sex to distract me (otherwise I will just be obsessively reading every poll result and wacky opinion column and will drive myself to drink ) hmm so it seems my choice for the year is drunk or slut well slut sounds more fun and is cheaper - and less fattening hmmm a good argument for being a slut - it is better for my mental and physical health?

    I guess I am “lucky” in that I graduated college and moved to Boston (which had a great gay scene) in 1977 - so I had a few years to be out and enjoy the peak of the 70s - disco, poppers, and random hookups (or tricks as we called them back then) and then I was again “lucky” enough to get a really nasty case of annal warts just before AIDS hit and as I had no health insurance , my outpatient treatment lasted about 3 years - so by the time I could get fucked again we knew to wear condoms and again I was “lucky” again in that I didn’t get tired of condoms (and get Pozzed) until after the first cocktails had been discovered So @Caged I totally get how just being a few years younger you were spooked by it all and thought it was safer to stay in the closet… but I want to tell you it is NEVER too late to come out - I can’t promise you it will be easy- or that everyone will greet you with high fives - but you will feel so much better about yourself And @BBArchangel THANK YOU!!! for your service… i know you watched a lot of friends die ….     At least you still have 2, Boston hasn’t had even one in over … close to 20 years? the closest one is in Providence RI (so that is in another state away and about an hour 45 away) But it is still a sad day when one of our institutions closes

    The other complication to this question is: how do you know they are not out? just because you see a guy wearing a wedding ring at the book store doesn’t mean he is not out to his partner for all you know maybe he is married to a guy who is a equal pig and waiting for his husband to come home with a sloppy hole that he can either eat out our fuck while his husband tells him about all the sleazy guys who fucked him and he may be on PrEP (so he is not putting his partner in that danger) And most of us took awhile to accept the fact that we were gay - and it is a different timeline for each of us - some know before puberty, some can’t deal with it until much much later in life (and it is not fair- or healthy to force someone out before they are ready) or maybe they are single but have a job they would loose if they came out (or actors or professional athletes who could lose lots of money if they came out) But with those public figures who are leading the charge of hatred and violence against our community- I don’t have trouble outing them (if - god forbid) Ron Desantis, or Margery Taylor Green, or any of those nut jobs on the far right were found out to be gay…. I would have trouble with them being outed - (even if I would not exactly welcome them to the family) (although I hate to admit it - that Stephen Miller is kind of hot) (so if anyone has fooled around with him - let me know 😉)
