Well don't you have an obligation as a manager to address that claim that your other employee made about his homophobia? If she told you that he had sexually harassed another employee, or had been making racist comments in the workplace, and you did nothing, wouldn't you become just as culpable as him for not escalating the situation? How is this then any different? Unless they are friends outside the workplace, something obviously happened during work hours that led to her sharing this with you as her manager. And if your sexuality is as well hidden a secret as you think it is, then she wasn't telling you this to alert you to his homophobia because you are gay. She was telling you this because it bothered her. And if it bothered her, then I think you have a problem that you need to address that is completely separate from his potential promotion.

It was my first time in Berlin and I heard how fun and nasty these German guys were, so I think I was expecting something far different from what it was, even though the tour guide implied that it was a lot of dirty fun and I'd LOVE it. I'm honestly always annoyed by the naysayers on here who regularly come in to burst the balloons/fantasies of others, and I swore I'd never be one of them. But this situation hits kinda close to home and so I want to just provide you another perspective this one time. Trust me I'm as into all of this as the rest of you, but as someone who was once in your bf's position in this very same situation (same ages, same experience levels, etc..), please proceed with care, because in the end he is the only one who really stands to get hurt in this situation. If you want to get him into the idea of opening up and letting the real him out, why aren't you starting with any of those other "future kinks" that you mention... ones that the two of you can do together, as a way to prime the pump and then lead to threesomes when he's ready for it? Why is involving a third the first one you are aiming for, unless the reality is that its the one that you actually want yourself, and this is more about you than it really is about him? Is being poz the worst thing in the world were it to happen to you, no, not really. I find it's actually quite liberating in many ways. But would I say that it's been a rosy path that I've been on because of it, no, I surely wouldn't. Perhaps if I had had some choice in how it happened to me, I would feel a bit differently about it. And perhaps if the bf I had had, one who pushed my naively trusting much younger self down a path of non-monogamy, had ended up poz along with me so that we would have experienced it together, I would feel differently about it also. But of course, that's not how it worked out. It was just me. I wish I had had the choice of taking Prep, but I didn't. But putting all that other aside, and the only reason I would say to exercise caution, is the one thing that keeps me awake at night right now, in the middle of my life, with a country and economy in apparent free fall, what if I were to lose my job? What if I don't have access to the drugs I need? I see what my plan pays on a yearly basis to keep me healthy. And it's not just being poz. It's so many of the other things that come along as you get older, and often in addition to it. I could never afford it on my own. Fantasy is fun. Reality not nearly so much.
