Hi there, I have been thinking a bit, and it seems obvious to me that soon we will have small devices that will be able to do the kind of tests we need (FDA approval is another matter, but you could buy them as a hobby, not for measuring your VL ). A very small device that is low cost could be used by us to measure VL and CD4 cells. Would you be interested in such a thing? Is it important for you to know your numbers when you want, as opposed to check them every three months? How would you use such a device if you had it? These tests can be quite expensive if paid out of pocket, around $800, IIRC, when I was in the US, so if you have no or crappy insurance, buying something like this could save money in the mid term. What do you think?

I am sorry if I am blunt. But you are not minimizing the risk, you are deluding yourself. The guy that is fucking you might be poz and not know it, he then has a higher viral load than an undetectable guy, who is poz, but is on meds. Paradoxically, the guy that thinks is neg is MUCH more likely to infect you than a honest poz guy who is on meds. These magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans revealed that female tufted monkeys' brains became significantly more active when they sniffed the scent of urine produced by adult males compared to that from juveniles. Since adult males are sexually mature, they excrete higher concentrations of the male sex hormone testosterone in their urine. The concentration of this testosterone is also linked to their social status; higher status males tend to produce more. "Female capuchin monkey brains react differently to the urine of adult males than to urine of juvenile males," said Dr Phillips. "We suggest that this is used as a form of communication to convey social and or sexual status." She added that it was surprising that capuchin monkeys appeared to respond to these cues, because the species is not known for using communication based on smell.
