There was a big closing down party on New Years Eve/Day 2017/2018. The business had been losing money for years, but it was the death of the owner than led to it closing.

They made it into a pizza place.  It was sad to see it go.  It was seedy and falling apart. You could smell the mildew and mold in the basement level where the steam room and old under ground pool were located.  I missed being able to swim there, but remembered it in porn that I had scene. Chicago has  lost a ton of ground to the yuppies moving into the area.  They lost the Bijou which was a historic adult threatre and  play space. They lost Manhandler and the Machine Shop as well.  

Mans Country was once quite the place to be.  I was visiting with Judy Tenuta after a show and she talked about doing shows there. 

It was tragic on the level of when Portland lost four story Club Portland to McMenamins

I’ve had two long stays in Chicago and I will never forget the first trip to Man’s Country in 2000. I checked in, found my way to my room, undressed, opened the room door and laid down ass up on the bed. Immediately a black man with an enormous cock passed my room door, walked in and started fucking me until he dumped a big load in my guts. I thought! I love it here! OmFFFFFg I miss Man’s Country.  It probably was losing money, but more importantly I think of all of the men who went there and left eternally satisfied. Chuck was an amazing man and did a lot for the community. When he died, his ears regrettably decided to close the place down.
 

Man’s country was a gay Mecca. Men came from around the world. I lived in California but flew to Chicago 4-6 times a year, just to check in for a long weekend. I loved the sling room with bars in the window. You could open or close the shutters, whether you were inviting people in or simply letting them watch. I made some lifelong friends there. But there were just as many who I used and discarded. Men were there for only one reason and the sex was incredible.
