One must never question a moderator even if it is deserved. Otherwise face sanctions and wrath as they stick up for each other regardless of the actual circumstances. Learned that over the years on many other forums. A little power corrupts terribly. Just look at any long lived Linux forum. Quote

They're mostly referees, controlling what can be posted, what can't, and they're here for our protection; not theirs. This site (or any other, for that matter) could turn into one big fat mess without the guidelines being explained and enforced. I just hope they get paid well for doing it, but it's n.o.m.b. 1 1 Quote

verbalBTTM Posted Friday at 07:36 PM Report Posted Friday at 07:36 PM Over the years, I've read plenty of content on this site that had me clutching my pearls. They do a good job while asking very little in terms of restrictions. The guidelines are fair and mostly for legal reasons. Considering the content on this site, I'm surprised at how much we get away with. For that alone, I am grateful for this site and the work the moderators do to keep everything going strong. Quote

verbalBTTM Posted Friday at 07:50 PM Report Posted Friday at 07:50 PM Ha ha ha, I said that as a tip of the hat to the moderators, however in truthfulness the sex with enhancements section alone is enough for me to do that. I've been there a little bit and the romanticization of meth is weird for me to read. I get the fun aspect of it as far as pigging out, they just always neglect to mention the come-down part. 1 Quote

Would you mind coming over on Nextdoor and reinforcing that to the Karens who think the Guidelines shouldn't apply to them? The past two days (we can all imagine why) have made the LGBT Politics threads here look downright meek. Some of the things that get said from behind a keyboard on a literally hyper-local (read: down the same block in the same subdivision) neighborhood-focused network make you think they have the intelligence of a baseball score. Especially in a state with Constitutional Carry laws. ____________________________ Yes you have First Amendment rights. Keep in mind that everyone also has Second Amendment rights. 1 1 Quote

I haven't ever used Nextdoor, and I did notice your proverbial tongue-in-cheek, so I'm hoping for the best on your behalf. The neighbors to the North are drug guys, and literally "screaming queens". They have parties (very loud, many guys) regularly that draw the cops attention. I've never called the cops on them, since I have those thick, double-paned windows, and I tend to go with the "live & let live" agenda. One of their "extended-stay" regulars hanged himself from a light fixture a couple years ago. Seemed like a really nice kid - I even helped him fix his car once. The neighbors to the South are a pair of intensely "private" guys, and very quiet, but they do peek over the fence when I'm using the "outdoor" sling in the back yard. That part I couldn't care less about. Neither of them has a snowball's chance. Edited Saturday at 07:56 PM by hntnhole awkwardism Quote

I won't turn this into a political stump speech, but we had to really hold tight reins on discussion of the assassination since it was ripe for deep and nasty political debate and even some distasteful memes. Or explaining to people who obviously do not care to read why the guidelines prohibit national politics discussion in General feeds to the replies of every Karen in a 10 mile radius "asking for the manager". We tell them to go enjoy TikTok with the other crazies. If you don't have the experience of living in an HOA or needing to find a plumber or electrician (or losing/finding a pet before the Chinese takeout does), you're missing nothing on Nextdoor. Though maybe your looky-lous are talking about your sling over there. 🤣 Quote

Though maybe your looky-lous are talking about your sling over there. 🤣 "Nextdoor" is popular where I live as well, and I took one look at it when I first moved here and in a second realized I wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. A bunch of individuals who have nothing better to do than look out their windows and comment on the behavior of their neighbors, or even the streets leading into the complex. "Did you see the tall black man walking down 31st St. S.?" was one story. Well, this is Saint Petersburg, we do have African Americans living here. "Have you been approached by the black man trying to see his CDs of reggae music in the parking lot of Publix's? screamed another. No, but I have been accosted by a group of pushy Girl Scouts who had their mothers named Karen harassing me to buy cookies. "Nextdoor" is filled with outrageous racism. Because my community has been dubbed "Heaven's Waiting Room", l live near the spot all the EMT's park and are the first to respond to a 911 call. So that is the limit of sound I hear. I yearn for the days of partying gays who play dance music a bit too loud, it's not likely to happen in the streets leading up to where I live. The gays are up on 54th Ave S., now with the Flamingo Resort sadly in our memories, we only have the ABS so there is very little the homophobes can jeer at. I drove by the other day and they had a flag out saying "Theater now open", meaning the booths in the back were available to play in. The first time since COVID. From my understanding, they have new owners, opened a new water account (Don't ask me how I know that information, but I know). So there is some sleaze available, in very limited quantities. If "Nextdoor" members only knew! One thing of note, apparently there was some kind of call from Trump to lower the flags in memory of Charlie Kirk. For the record, and I know this is sad, I had no idea who the hell Charlie Kirk was before he was shot. But my complex, which I would estimate is at least 50 percent Republican, declined to lower the flag. My 93 year old neighbor was upset she made the few steps over to the "guard shack" to ask why they were not observing the Trump "order". She called me to tell me the guard told her this was private property, owned by an out of state corporation, and they were not obligated to follow any "order". I like my 93 year old neighbor very much, but I had to chuckle when she called me, outraged, that there was no sympathy shown for Mr. Kirk. "Nextdoor" is garbage, or at least it was the one and only time I looked at it. Quote
