Our brothers in Alaska need to be warned not to vote for Madame X (no connection to the famed Cadillac 16 of the same name) whose connection to the magical contrivance referenced directly above is clear and obvious.  Equally clear and obvious is the fact that her name appears in lieu of the actual invention of the universal enemy, O.R. 

If the answer is yes, then Mrs. Palin is forever banned to stay in the netherworld, and bother us no more.  Some other disgustment will be needed to substitute for the forbidden allegorical contrivance. 

Suggestions, anyone ???  

See, I actually was hoping to use this space to discuss Salman Rushdie's fourth book, "The Satanic Verses". 😂 Or perhaps the incestuous relationship that most members of Congress have with the pharmaceutical industry. 🤣

Shucks ..... I'm always surprised these Congresspersons have an asshole left, after bending over for the shovels-ful of dough Big Pharma pumps up their ribey asses.  How many mansions are enough?  How many yachts are enough?  How many limo's do they need to carry the bags of money to the off-shore banks ???  And, it's not just the usual suspects, either.

Bear in mind this is my perception based on over a decade of being on here, reading the rules (and studying changes when they're made), and so forth. I'm not a moderator or otherwise affiliated with the site.

There is a banned word, for instance, that means "forbidden", and that word is derived from one or more of the Polynesian languages. As a synonym for "forbidden", there really shouldn't be any problem with it. But in a sexual context, it's almost always associated with certain illegal activities, ones that this site (for good reasons) doesn't allow to be discussed. Even using this word for "forbidden" not only stirs up mentions of those topics - because so many people don't read the rules - but also encourages members to start using messages to one another to talk about those topics - which is also a problem for the site, because they're hosting the software by which these messages are exchanged.

So this word, because of its associations with those banned topics, is also banned, because it's so frequently used to work around the ban on those topics.

As the moderators and the site owner have pointed out: inadvertent use of a banned word simply generates either swapping it for "[banned word]" - which, as the author of the post, the member should recognize, know what word he used, and resolve to not use it in the future - or it does a substitution like "Sarah Palin" for the name of that purportedly demonic entity. Neither one generates an infraction, ordinarily; it's when the member starts trying to game the system and show a variation on the word that they get slapped down. For instance, if the word "bullshit" were banned, using "bohlsheet" to get around that ban is a sanctionable offense, because it indicates you know better and are trying to game the system.

That's not to say this system is ideal - I don't know what would be, frankly, in a world where site owners can be held legally liable for certain types of content. But these are the tools that are available, and I'm certainly willing to follow them.

When people signed up, free btw, we all agreed the rules. Not sure whats changed.

I aint no brown nose, yes there are flaws, but If I agree to something, I stick to it or  I could just leave. Everyone has that choice. I choose to follow, I enjoy this site.

I did not say that "forbidden" was a synonym for "forbidden". I said that the BANNED WORD, the one you can't use here, the one derived from a Polynesian antecedent, is a synonym for "forbidden".

This is almost like the same territory as the Sarah Palin problem. For instance, there is a women's fragrance from many years ago produced by a company called Dana Fragrances. With a minor change in spelling, it evokes what you're aiming at.

You get the general idea without my needing to say it. And no, I'm not intentionally gaming the system by depicting these but using as an illustrative example.

In fairness, I get it. RawTop needs to walk a tight wire with the discussion of topics and potential de facto censorship over which he has little control. Granted that it can also suppress discussion on other topics of a more academic nature, such as the discussion of what are now called "minor attracted persons". And if this feels more than a bit like trying to address "The Artist Formerly Known As Prince" from that specific period (since no one can pronounce that symbol), maybe it is, but with everything, we found ways to continue discussions while locating another method of reference.

Here is a bit of the back story. During the time period that Sarah Palin was a candidate for US Vice-President, this forum was overrun by people wanting to turn every discussion to worship of the Christian name for the devil. The problem persisted despite warnings and bans. The replacement of the devil's name with her name was put in place at that time and really helped to curtail this problem. It's gotten a little outdated though; I doubt anyone under 25 remembers Palin outside of Alaskans.

Almost all other words which have been banned are used as code words by the pedophile community or at least they have been used in that way on this forum enough that it became a problem. We work very hard to keep any discussion of underage sex off the forum except for very limited discussions by people of their own underage experiences. The name of a chat program is banned for a similar reason; every thread about handles on that platform seemed to devolve into a coded discussion of underage sex.

No.  More, I didn't answer this earlier because I'd never heard of them.  So I squeezed in some investigative time a while ago, and realized after some hunting that some folks apparently do, and some folks apparently don't.  Admittedly, only scratched the surface, but - at this point - it sounds like a healthy helping of bs to me.  But, I'll read some more about it.  I do enjoy learning about things, regardless of whether I buy into it or not.  

Obviously, barebackers possess yet another quality, other than the obvious - that being an advanced level of intelligent inquiry.
