I sincerely thank you @viking8x6 for expressing such kindness, humanity, and empathy, all three of which I very rarely observe if at all in present times. Less squabbling and fighting, and more listening and reaching out to connect with our fellow man.

I truly think deep down the majority of our species are inherently good people. I could elaborate on that but it would be too long winded. Thank you again! 😊🧡

Recent reports from the collapsed House of Representatives are murmuring that the scorpions are about to devour their young .... meaning the baby-faced Magaroid Speaker.

McCarthy has packed his kleenex and gone home now, Mikey-boy has completely failed to advance one productive bill.  It's to the point that Chip Roy (21st, TX) stood in the well hollering over and over again words to the effect:  "Tell me one thing (index finger jabbing skyward) we've accomplished that I can go home to my district and campaign on.  TELL ME ONE THING !!!"  This from a Republikan from Texas.

So who's to blame?  That body might as well blame the same old thing: The Speaker, of course.  Failure of leadership.  Failure across the intellectual board.  Failure to accomplish the insurrection he was so invested in.  Failure to even partially control his razor-thin majority.  Failure in it's awful entirety.  Apparently he can control whether his kid ever watches porn, but he can't control anything else.  That tortured wreck of a man is, if major media is to be believed, already on the skids.

Maybe Marjorie Trailer GreeneTrash will be the next to descend to the dizzying depths of failure that the House of Representatives has become.  Or, maybe that pompadour'ed serial rapist from Florida's 1st District.  At least it wouldn't be any fresh news that a rapist had advanced his career - after all - he'd just be following in the footsteps of the original king of the ridiculous Pompadour. He'd probably dye it a matching shade of orange too.

At least, the porn he lets his dad monitor. Dollars to donuts the son has a burner phone or wifi-only tablet or something that dad has no idea exists.

Greene will never get 218 votes for speaker from her colleagues. Nor will Gaetz. Gym Jordan couldn't, and while he's a shit person, he's still less problematic than Greene or Gaetz. My guess is that they will limp along sniping at each other in the GOP Caucus until November, accomplishing very little if anything (and that only if the Democrats help them).

It's a beautiful sight [wiping tears from my eyes].

To be honest beyond our awareness Johnson and Jr Johnson monitor each others porn behavior, that didn't say they weren't viewing it; just their dad/son pact to monitor each others usage.  As head-up as Mr. Johnson seems to be, he probably does know what a burner phone is, and it would not shock me if we learned he has one or more...

I truly hope the R party stops it devolution into advocating dictatorship as the only way to go.  But so far it seems they are hell bent to accomplish that.  We know from prior experience that R's will do their best to block whomever Grandpa Joe selects for SCOTUS

I listened carefully to Halley/Sununu interviews yesterday.  They did a fairly skillful job of riding the ridge.  I am hopeful albeit not optimistic they will prevail and begin to swing the R towards centerline.

While not necessarily the D party, social liberals are doing their own damage to society which hopefully will not make it into D party platforms.  While, for example, I am not in favor of abortion as a method of birth control, I strongly advocate for Our bodies, our choice regardless of whether or not we have a penis or a vagina.

So did I.  It seems that eeeeever so timidly, a handful of the R's that understand how off-the-rails their party has become, some are trying to murmur that fact to their fellow R's.  It's late, but not too late to begin righting the ship of state.

Do you mean Pramila Jayapal, AOC and the far-left Progressives?

Just as the R extremists are wreaking havoc, the far-left Dems are handing the R's plenty of ammunition.  In fairness, each political party has it's extremities, whether left or right.  As I see it, there's no problem with that, however I would note that there aren't far-lefties advocating the fall of the US Government.  I think there's room in the Government for everyone to have a chance, with the proviso they're not advocating anarchy, quoting dictators (past and present), etc.

Promoting one's view is fine.  If the majority of voters in the district don't care for those views, they won't be elected.  Repressing the views of others isn't fine.  Bernie didn't make it either; a moderate leftie did.

As someone who leans pretty far libertarian on social/cultural issues, it has been painful to watch the cultural warriors adopt the same heavy hand of government approach to enforce the mores they want that has long been used by the social justice warriors to enforce the progressive society they want. My reaction to both, has always been, figure out how to take the government out of the argument entirely.

To be fair today's MAGA cultural warrior movement is a direct descendant of the Dixiecrats who used the heavy hand of government to enforce their culture for a hundred years following the Civil War, merged with the heavy handed tactics that the modern Democratic Party employed in the post FDR era to enforce their progressive views on our society. My general opinion is we need to phase out the government interference from both sides of this tarnished coin and amend our constitution to disallow the governmental meddling of the past.

No, I was referring to NON Party people whose behavior gets conflated to the Democratic party.  Not limiting but for example terminating people for a accusation (not a conviction); or wanting to limit what we can or cannot say.

That's a really long post you authored there, to an unimportant member of the "minority" of Trump supporters who were sent to the dustbin of history over 3 years ago now!

So anyway nowhere in your post did you actually say Islam is not scary.

You just said Trump supporters were "scared of everything". That's a completely clichéd routine that absolutely pseudointellectual 11-year-old can do after watching their first ever episode of Colbert, and logging on to the internet.

"heh *Pushes glasses up nose* You're like... heh! *pushes glasses up nose* so fearful! Heh!
*spends a few more weeks pushing glasses up nose while saying "heh!" in an extremely nasal voice.*

Like that woman says in the movie Kingpin "your act is about as a Foghat concert"...

Tell me in your next post Islam is not scary. Go ahead. Tell you me you hang out with Muslims all the time.

BTW, DorkingNeedsTobeHitWitha2x4 has started the familiar process of silencing me, because you're both scared of a poster who's 4000 miles away.  That's what you're scared of. So...you won't be able to send any more of your 7,000 page love letters to me any more.

Islam does indeed forbid stuff , I used to be A Muslim but I have chosen to become like this , I cannot say I am Muslim anymore , I don't think God would Forgive me for my sins , But Also Who made Two World Wars ? Also that ruler in Germany wasn't Muslim that oppressed people, Please Stay away from Islam and Muslims, they have their own problems with their GOVERNMENTS, I also believe that I need to go to therapy because of what I do , there is nothing Wrong about what Mike Johnson said if you see it from a different angle. People Nowadays In America don't even know how to count , how you would expect them to know what's good and not.

The problem is, he doesn't merely "think" he knows what the deity wants, he "knows" what the deity wants.  In the US, we enjoy what's known as freedom of religion', meaning that no one gets to tell others how (or whether) to "believe".  That issue is completely, 100% personal.  There are many different belief-systems in the US, and all are welcome to either participate or decline to "believe".

Thus, the angle/lens/belief system someone like Johnson views issues through is applicable only to him, (and possibly others with similar beliefs).  He does not get to force his beliefs - whether religious, political, cultural - upon anyone else, just as we don't force ours on him.

The Speaker of the House of Representative's first and only duty is to serve the Nation, inclusive of all citizens, regardless of their cultural/spiritual beliefs.

parts of Islam can be scary just as parts of Judaism. Some object to the seemingly exclusive parts of Christianity, and find it offensive and even violent spiritually.  Of course, most jews, muslims, christians and westerners consider their religion most peaceful.

Why do u think that people who oppose Trump:  his autocracy, anti democratic tendencies, lie, demagoguery, racism, financial fraudulence etc. — don't oppose Islam and parts of its culture that are anti-modern and against freedoms of the world. They are less likely to be vocal about it, simply out of politeness since Islam is a non western religion and they don't know everything about it and want to avoid criticizing it unfairly and wrongly?

Right?  To me, there are parts of any 'ism' that can be scary.  An atheist autocrat/dictator can be just as equally "scary" to me. Usually it's the 'parts' that want to make their particular mind set universal and impose it on everyone, turn it into legislation.  Mike Johnson is one of those people.  He asserts that "the United States is a Christian Nation" and believes the US should be run using his interpretation of the bible.  Here's stuff from MJ and his wife's website.

"ANSWERS
for OUR TIMES
Government, Culture and Christianity
What is happening in America and how do we fix it?
Can our heritage as a Christian nation be preserved?
How should Christians respond to the changing culture?
What does the Bible say about today's problems and issues?"

So, it seems it's the boy-wonder's turn in the crucible of fire-breathing magoid miscreants.  He says he's trying to avoid a Govt shut-down in the coming days, communicating with Schumer, all of that - but the nut cases are insisting on their way or the fiscal highway re: a CR.

We're watching, closet-boy  ..... so is Kevin ...

Since this thread was made, Mike Johnson has introduced precisely 0 bills into the house trying to re-criminalise gay sex or undo gay marriage.

If you are looking for a real homophobic influence in our time, try looking up Andrew Tate, who did not exactly announce he was "converting to Christianity" in late 2022.

If you had half a brain to rub against the other half, you'd know that no "bill" can do either of those things. What has to happen is a court case that the Republican majority on the Supreme Court can use to overturn its previous rulings. Until that happens, no federal law on gay sex or gay marriage can happen. Try learning something about how our legal system works, how the prohibitions on laws on sodomy and gay marriage came about, and then try opening your mouth again.

I do agree Andrew Tate is a piece of shit.
