I think he wrote himself into a difficult place. Describing a trip through a maze is hard enough but add the tribesman, the bags, THE SEX plus deciding on a game plan to make it to the center, THEN multiply that by however many boys are involved— maybe he had a little meltdown.

Too bad. Such a great story and we’ve invested so much just reading it. Shame.
