I had one of those rooms with the separate sitting rooms a few years ago when they were called city rooms. The last few times I’ve stayed at St Giles I have paid a higher price and had an executive room. These are quite large but all one big space and have always had a working safe. No one has replied to the question of whether President Hotel near Russell Square is still good with way keycard free access.

There are safes in the more expensive rooms at St Giles but I don’t think they are available in the very small basic rooms. I’ve found Grindr works well at St Giles between 4-7pm when people are passing by on their way home from work. Also sometimes works during the night to contact other guys actually staying in the hotel.

A few years ago, before St Giles became so popular, some of the hotels the Russell Square area were regularly used by cumdumps. The President was very popular and I think there were others around there perhaps The Royal National. Has anyone used any of these recently.

I’m now 63 and getting far more action than I did a few years ago. When I reached my 40’s and even more so during my 50’s visits to saunas etc were often a waste of time. The well known dating apps were even less productive. These last few years since I reached 60 things seem to be changing. As a slightly chubby, but not seriously overweight bottom with a reasonably big ass, I’m getting more and more attention from younger guys. On the dating apps I now describe myself as an older more mature bottom and this seems to attract those younger guys who prefer older. When staying in a hotel in somewhere like London and even more so Birmingham or Manchester there seem to be quite a few young Asian and black guys who are looking for older white bottoms to fuck.

Going back in time to the days before websites like this, and even more so apps on phones, most of my meet ups with other men for sex were at outdoor cruising locations and occasional sauna visits. Over the last 20 years outdoor cruising has declined in a big way and most of the saunas even in large cities like London have closed. When I was last in London I visited Hampstead Heath on a warm dry evening and there was hardly anyone there and no crowds like there were 20 years ago. Im recent years when I have been visiting a large city in the U.K. I have used websites like this one, BBRT and Squirt to research and plan meets. Usually the meet has ended up being in my hotel room using apps like Grindr. If there is to be a block in the UK on using many of these online sites it will become much harder to plan and get meets in hotels. Does anyone know if apps like Grindr are also going to come under the rules of this block? Perhaps there will be a big revival in outdoor cruising and sauna visits as that could once again be the only way some of us could easily meet.

To return to the original question in this thread. Can anyone recommend any other fairly central London Hotels, other than St. Giles, which have easy access to rooms without keycard lifts etc. There’s a long old thread in this forum where a number of hotels were mentioned. Nothing has been posted in that thread since last April and the most recent postings only mention St. Giles. Earlier postings mentioned a number of other hotels but these were 5 years+ ago and could be well out of date by now. If things are getting a bit problematic at St Giles it would be useful to know of other possible locations.

Is that the Holiday not far from New Street Station? That’s worth knowing about as I’ve not tried that hotel. I stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Birmingham a couple of years ago and there was easy access to the rooms there.

I completely agree but for anyone who has never been to Hampstead Heath I would recommend having a walk around in the daytime before going after dark. It’s a huge wooded area with paths everywhere and very easy to get lost in the dark if you don’t have some idea where you are heading.

When I was there for a few nights midweek a couple of months ago it was between 5 and 7 that I got most action. I wasn’t adverting myself as a cumdump but just on Grindr as a bottom. It was mostly guys passing by on their way home from work who wanted an anon bottom in darkened room to visit on their way home from work. I think most probably did this regularly and knew how to confidently walk in to the lifts and straight up to the rooms. Later in the evening and during the night I got nothing as I think the cumdumps were the main attraction.

The N5 night bus runs every 30 minutes through the night. You can get this bus at Hampstead Heath on North End Road right near the entrance to the cruising area. The first one is at about 10 minutes after midnight and they run every night of the week. The N5 then stops on Tottenham Court Road almost outside St Giles Hotel.

Is this very recent? I was at St Giles 4 weeks ago and I had someone come to me at around 2am on a midweek night. He had no problems getting in. Perhaps it’s just occasional very random spot checks.

It’s a huge hotel, with a big turnover of visitors, and during the 3 times I’ve stayed there I have found others on Grindr who are also in the hotel. It’s quite close to the gay venues of Soho so there’s usually gay guys staying there. Make contact on Grindr, give them your room number, put something like a sock in the door to keep it slightly open, then be ready arse up on the bed. It’s as easy as that. It doesn’t work every night, but I’ve managed it during the night a few times. Last time it was at about 3am.

I always wondered whether visitors may be questioned here in the middle of the night. I’ve never had anyone come to my room from outside after midnight as I’ve usually found someone else staying at the hotel in the middle of the night. I can’t see it being a problem at the weekends as on Friday and Saturday nights St Giles is so busy with people coming in and out at all hours. Perhaps the fact that it may have been very quiet at that time midweek and the fact that they looked like workmen.

I was last there in January. I found that there seemed to be a few tops around the area who obviously were regulars and knew the score. When I was on Grindr they indicated they were close by and asked for my room number. They were straight in and up to my room very quickly with no problems.
