    I think there’s a W.H.O. push in various countries across the world to come down hard on Hep C and ‘eliminate it as a significant public health risk’ by 2030. This is what you may be seeing in the US. Certainly in the UK, the NHS is actively trying to identify and treat people infected with it across the board: hence making it a standard part of the STI screening process for gay men.

    Hep C is the one I dread, too- particularly as I love to be a ‘party bottom’ at sex clubs, and particularly because I also like to play in Berlin from time to time: definitely puts me at the “high risk” end of the spectrum for us players. At least here in the UK, we get screened for it regularly as a standard part of our 3-month Prep tests- and if we catch it, we will get treated by the NHS with nothing to pay… though I did hear a rumor that they will only offer this treatment free of charge once, due to the high cost, etc. I’d be interested to know how this experience has affected your outlook on things, @rawfuckr. Will it change the way you play? I’ve kind of told myself that if I do catch Hep C, then I’ll kind of call it a day on my wanton ways, given where I am in life anyway- though I’m also realistic enough about myself to know that I probably won’t.

    Hey- I found myself in a similar position to you a few years back- same age too, give or take. My advice would be to get yourself on Prep (if you’re not already there) and jump right back in at the deep end- you’ve no time to lose! You’ll find plenty of guys interested in a 50 y/o whore- it might be a different crowd to the one you attracted back in the day: you’ll have to get used to being called “Daddy” and learn to just go with it, whether it’s your thing or not. If you’re not already doing it, then hitting the gym and keeping yourself in the best shape possible wouldn’t go amiss either. You don’t say where you are, but if you are in an area/country where there are cruise bars, saunas and sex clubs, I would go down that route rather than spend too much time on the apps: guys at our stage of life are much sexier when presenting themselves in real life than through a series of photos on Grindr, Sniffies, etc… phone cameras are no friend to the over 40’s.     The dark room is a kind of enclosed space among the trees/undergrowth, largely surrounded by conveniently placed logs and fallen tree trunks. The ground is just bare earth. The name is very apt- it is indeed dark in there, and it does feel very much like a room!

    If you go to a website called iwantprepnow.co.uk and follow the link to the “Buy Prep now” section, you’ll find a couple of online pharmacies listed, who can supply doxycycline as well as Prep. This website was set up when Prep wasn’t available on the NHS, so you had to buy it privately online from overseas. This website and the pharmacies listed have the approval of Dean Street, the biggest sexual health clinic in London (and Europe, I think)- so you know that they can be trusted. Dean Street are currently recommending this route for people who think they might benefit from DoxyPep, while we all wait on the NHS to get its act together on this- just like they did with Prep a few years back.

    If you’re visiting in August it will be the school holidays here, and HAmpstead Heath will be packed with families during the day, particularly if the weather is nice. Although cruising on the Heath is tolerated by the local community (as well as the local police), this only applies to night time cruising, when there is zero chance of a child stumbling across your activities. I would stay away until after sunset, if I were you- and try one of the saunas for daytime fun instead. FYI, access to the Heath from central London is pretty easy whatever the time of day… night buses run regularly throughout the night.

    Your best bet is the Vault (preferably Monday or Thursday which are naked nights) till 1:00am followed by Sweatbox sauna, which is open all night. They are both in the West End, about a ten-minute walk from each other.

    I guess he’s talking about the pro-Palestinian marches that have been taking place in London every Saturday. There’s been some controversy recently, because the police have been accused coming down too hard on any kind of counter-protest, presumably in the name of “keeping the peace”.

    Oh, I forgot to mention- the other advantage of doing Hampstead Heath on the Friday night is that the night tube will be operating, ie: the London Underground runs 24 hours a day on certain lines. The line you will need to use to get to HH is the Northern Line, and that’s one of the ones that runs all night at weekends, so you shouldn’t have any difficulty getting back.

    If I were in your shoes I’d probably do this: Weds: naked night at Bunker bar, 6:00-10:00pm, then back to St. Giles to see if I could score more loads there. Thurs: naked night at Vault is a must- get there 6:00-6:30pm… it goes on till 1:00am, but gets going early, so don’t miss out by arriving ‘fashionably late’. Fri: Friday is more of a dance/club night- there’s probably something going on with a darkroom somewhere, but I’m not a big clubber, so I can’t tell you exactly what’s happening that week. However, I can tell you that these events usually don’t start till 10:00pm and go on till around 4:00am, so they are very much late night events. If the weather is nice, I’d probably head for Hampstead Heath instead, aiming to get there about an hour before sunset, so you can get you bearings before it gets dark. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your stay, and get suitably loaded!

    I’ve done this a few times, and like you, I worry about the ‘flammable liquid’ thing. I take the label off the bottle, and just make sure there’s lots of other stuff in the see-through bag, so it kinda gets ‘lost’… Haven’t been questioned about it so far.
