There is a big difference between having a right to hold a belief and having a belief that you are right.

No issue with anyone believing they are right...  But I do have an issue with them making their belief's mandatory for me and others to follow (eg: illegal).  Believing we are right is after all a belief in and of itself.

  2. "I'm hearing...."  sounds so much like another Trumpism "people are saying....".  Would you name your sources please?

No one at CDC has claimed vaccines protect perfectly.  They, the CDC, do tell us vaccines vastly improve outcomes and lower transmission.  They've been consistent on that.  Further, we have evidence of high profile people contracting covid after vaccinations who exhibit only mild illness.

That's an interesting observation, and cries out for another layer to this religious "freedom for some, required for all" theme.

The "early US settlers" were vastly outnumbered in the land they were in process of invading / killing off the indigenous.  Forcing their magical, fevered notions of religiosity upon said indigenous enabled the new conquerors to engender hatred to the "infidels", and also promoted the crop of babies, sorely needed for the further conquest of the invaded land.

It's always been, and remains to this day, about Power, and nothing else.

Oh indeed.  They fled being forced to believe something they didn't want to, and yet had their own brand of rottenness.

It's not just males. There's considerable biological evidence (from many species, not necessarily all or even a representative sample, but still) that even in pair-bonded species, both sexes seek outside mating.

Honestly I don't have studied stats to draw from.  Indeed women certainly get their share of outside play.  It may be my particular circumstances that it appears men appear to stray in greater numbers than women.

  5. Getting back to the original post...  Religious freedom is the freedom to believe as you will for yourself.  NOT to impose that on everyone else which was what many of the early US settlers were attempting to do; believe what they want, not what others want them to believe.

We've lost our way here...  In religion and other topics like abortion.  If you don't believe in abortion, don't have one.  But what others choose to do with their own bodies is none of anyone else's concern.  We need to remove gender from the equation and make sure every individual can choose for themselves what happens to themselves.

I think what I find confusing is how PrEP figures into this. Other than the fact that someone on it can't contract HIV, every other aspect of this is identical whether either party is on PrEP or not.

I think it's very disingenuous to claim "bareback sex" (or a devotion to it) isn't real if there is PrEP involved.

Unless of course HIV is the objective more than bareback sex itself.

I think "maximum immunity" would be better phrase than "full immunity". I think at its best it's only 85% effective. But if enough guys get it, then there's herd immunity…

[To be honest, I'm not sure they've tested the vaccine enough to have a definitive percent efficacy. They didn't have an outbreak to test against until now.]

I am also curious whether there are studies of those of us who were originally inoculated for smallpox as children back when that was common.  Would a new inoculation be more a booster and if so, is a single dose likely enough to achieve maximum effectiveness?

That stage in life fits me too. I think that is one reason I've decided to get converted.

In the normal course of fucking, sure, exposure and potential seroconversion is possible.  But it is hardly a sure thing.  I don't follow the logic of friends of mine I know who use other means to get converted that are not sexual at all.  That's sort of like "deciding to get cancer" (which I already have) isn't it?

If I were poz already I would of course be on meds.  I have enough prescriptions already; and PrEP adds to my exposure of other challenges to some of my internal organs.  Adding to that challenge no longer makes sense; largely because it is unlikely I will convert anyway.  So in that unlikely event, sure; I'll take the meds.  But meanwhile, I am not taking HIV meds to prevent something that is unlikely to begin with.  Were I in my 30's PrEP would be much more sensible.

The poz talk though?  Fuck, as goofy as it might sound I love it!

For myself as I get older the thought of getting pozzed seems to turn me on more and more over the years. I am not on prep and I don`t ever plan on taking it.  There is something sexy to me about be fertile to a poz no meds dick. I do like to talk about poz stuff with guys but at a bathhouse I will not as status and I`ll take any dick that I like . It is more about the guy and his dick then it is wether he is poz or neg. or whatever. I will top when hard but more of a bottom guy. Definitely want his cum deep in my ass. Whatever happens because of it I`ll deal with later.

I am at a stage in life where if I were to convert it is pretty much a dead heat that other factors will kill me before HIV.  So the motivation to avoid has declined for me.  That said, I've made it this far in life raw only and neg after all these years.  The majority of that PrEP wasn't even a thing.  Still, I am not "needing" to seroconvert either.  With a certain amount of confirmed natural immunity; combined with the fact that the only poz guys I know are undetectable I don't see the point in PrEP for me any longer.

Poz talk during sex truly turns me on; as illogical as that is.  But I love it and on those occasions where it comes up, participate.

i think the anonymity of online makes it easier for guys to be inconsiderate, bringing out their inner three year old.  my guess is anyone who does that would to be a less than stellar fuck anyway, obviously self absorbed. It is enormously frustrating though.

i think online hook up culture has mutated too. i used to have a fair amount of success with CL, running an ad where i'd be waiting naked and ass up. But it's never been perfect or 100%  Nothing has ever beat cruising spots for me. "On my way" is never an issue at a cruising location because the real, serious Guys who want to fuck are already there. If i'm seriously in need of cock, i don't even attempt apps, i just go to the local ABS... covid put a damper on that for awhile, thank goodness for FB's.

Oh to have bookstores here in Wisconsin (the old bookstores, with booths and GH backroom).  And bars used to be a great place to hang out for awhile, and meet guys.  Some bars were accommodating and had back rooms or basements.

In this part of the US; those live, in person meeting places which didn't prescreen anyone or have a readable list of preferences and attributes are ghost towns.  I think many in our community miss out on starting with eye contact and if a spark sparked we would have a conversation; or not, maybe just fuck and say nothing....  Conversation was two way, eye to eye.  I miss that...

It was my intention as covid has diminished immediacy in our lives to take the long drive into Chicago and visit Steamworks.  I am suspecting mpox will level off; decline as we are able to get the shots and hopefully; the next hurrah doesn't start up as mpox starts to resolve and we enter an era of "wack em ole" the next virus.  Quite a relief when I hear from some of the candidates that climate change isn't emerging...  (NOT)  I recall the sudden, but brief impacts when transport throttled back massively at the start of Covid.  Some days one could get the impression mother earth isn't fond of us...

Anyway, I digressed; sorry.  So many customs from live in person meeting places didn't translate well to cyber.    In cyber there is a breakdown of the fundamental courtesies that 'in person" life mostly demanded.   Hopefully we'll work it out.

For my own experience, there are the occasional OMW no shows.  It is of course disappointing.  There have been times when an OMW no show apologizes.  But if they ghost I just block them.  I actually experienced one OMW NoShow who apologized; set a new time and were once again an OMW NoShow.  I don't get angry; often my gut instinct is pretty reliable of who is likely to be one.  But it is pointless to continue if they are an OMW NoShow.   I do have a couple dozen semi regular fellows though and none of them has ever been an OMW NoShow.  As I see it; it is a phenomena experienced only in men I've never met.   Perhaps this is the virtual "eyecatch" followed by an unspoken "awshit"?

  11. My partner and I have a mutually agreed to open relationship.  Thus there is no "cheating".  However, a few outside of our relationship have asserted I am cheating.  And were I their partner obviously IF I did that, it would be.  Now, do I stay "loyal".  Of course.  My mate is my mate.  Whether I have sex with another guy doesn't change that.  Our home is our home.  He is the one I snuggle up to at the end of the day.  We go to the STI clinic together and we're open about results.  We talk to each other about our outside play.

I have had other partners though who clearly did cheat.  My hubby had the same experience.  That in fact formed the basis of our agreement with each other.  In our decades together we often use that in our humor with each other.  (e.g.: when I was scrubbing the back window of my mates daily driver he joked "scraping all the cum off the back window from my back seat fun???").

I'm thinking these as a top, mostly about anal sex. Not hitiing, punching, slapping or anything just the penetration. I don't wanna be an asshole and make the other guy hurt but I'd love to fuck the hell out of my bottom (but I dont want him to be in pain so I pull back)

I do love to throat fuck however, make his face red and make him drool.

Oh how I wish you were in Wisconsin....

He still votes 100% for all the Republican things like starving children, corporate takeover of agriculture, pre-existing conditions in healthcare, monopolization of every industry, bonuses to companies that move overseas, and shifting tax burdens from large corporations and wealthy individuals to the vanishing middle and working classes.  Same with Cheney.  There are no good Republicans.  There are just two who aren’t quite ready to murder the Republic.

Honestly I agree with George Washington on parties.  Both absolutely suck; just that at this point in history, Dems suck hugely less than Reps.

Right now we're not in a position to make effective; and well accepted advances on social causes until we tackle this ugly 50/50 split in our society.  Before we can even do that; we've lost our way on accepted facts.  The majority of us in this particular discussion on BZ are I believe in agreement with facts.  Trump lost the 2020 election.  It was not rigged.  (recall before the 2016 election Trump decried it as already rigged and that "if" he lost, it would be because of that rigging.  He didn't lose...).  On his inaugural address he proclaimed it with gloom and doom; how destroyed the USA was and how he would rebuild it.  My part of the US is definitely not destroyed.  And I've driven across quite vast stretches of it and there is none of that destruction he proclaimed.  Recall that he also proclaimed his inauguration was the largest ever (and if the metric is money spent; he might be right).  But the crowd size was massively different than the inaugurations of his  predecessor.  So out of the box, newly minted president; he has lied to us.

Have you ever noticed that if you listen to Trump's references about others; he is actually talking about himself?  When he says "they are so unfair..." we need to correct his choice of object from "they are" to "I am".  If one does that and compares it to observable events; thy match.

Throughout his term he bombarded the news with false and incorrect information and the drumbeat became so loud many just believed him because it was all they heard.

So; our challenge right now before anything else is to encourage each other to start exploring facts and to make active observations of what is fact and what is not.

Then sure, lots of social causes and national advances we likely will improve the lot in life for MOST we can address.

I would like to see Cheney defeat Trump for the nomination, even though I don't want her to win the general election (she's still very much a right-winger, just one that doesn't countenance coups). Remember that she voted for all the bad things Trump wanted to do, and while she's FINALLY come around on same-sex marriage (after opposing it even while her lesbian sister was getting married), she's still very much a solidly Republican official - just not one enamored with the Mango Mussolini.

But honestly, I don't see Cheney being able to defeat Trump in the primaries. While his iron grip on the party's faithful has slipped somewhat since he left office, the pro-Trump crowd in the GOP outnumbers the anti-Trump crowd. Things could change, especially if he's indicted and convicted by then, but even then I'm not sure I'd rule out him getting the nomination.

I made the mistake of underestimating his appeal in 2016, thinking (like many) that there was no way he could win. Never again.

I think I could easily get behind Adam Kinzinger.

  15. I am timing pretty closely with you rawTOP.  I know the place I normally go to for vaccinations likes 4 weeks between shots of any sort.  With the new updated covid vaccine out shortly, I am planning a conversation about timing.  I would like the new covid shot as soon as available, even if I have to wait some time before #2 mpox.  And of course soon the annual flu vaccine will be out.

My intent it to see if they'll be open to 3 week timer.

  16. Mine was my very first fuck in the late 70's.  A neighbor in the next apartment complex and I met and hit it off.  Time passed and eventually we got around to sex.  He fucked me bare using hand lotion as lube.  But that got me started.  At a point one fellow used a condom which I hated.  Never repeated that and have only barebacked either as a top or bottom since.

  17. I've definitely given up on giving any credence to polling numbers.  Here in Wisconsin there is a huge amount of attention being given to polling and hardly anything to what the candidates are actually saying.  When I filter out the big money ads and just pay attention to direct candidate ads, there is an interesting contrast to Michels vs Evers.  Evers has a long list of impressive accomplishments even though legislators were of the other party.  Michels simply talks about destroying things; and what he wants to destroy are people who disagree with his Trump backed agenda.  Pretty troubling.

Overall, I suspect midterms on average won't change much at all.  The R's of course are dominated by Trump which is troubling in so many ways.  I rather hope that Kinzinger or Chaney make a run to oppose Trump in 2024.  While IMO Trump has earned prison time, I think it unlikely that will happen.

Democrats have some pretty far left agenda items which is almost as concerning as the right wing.  In my best hopes; I would love to see is start ignoring both wingtips and move back to centrist which should get us back to meeting the needs of the 80% (ish).

I would love to see Citizens United overturned.  The ads have gotten old and the intensity and content now is absurd.

I hate to be a spoilsport, but a vaccine taken today will only be very partially effective by the weekend - something on the order of 50% for HIV-negative guys (if I remember correctly) and even less for guys who are HIV+, even those who are undetectable. Not sure of your HIV status, but I wouldn't count on a Tuesday shot offering significant protection by Friday night.

    Those doggone facts...  LOL

Glad you got the first shot.  Sorry that we're in this crazy time of exposures again.  If it is your intention to avoid getting mpox, I would wait until at least two weeks after your second mpox vaccination.

  19. My hope as well @rawTOP.  It's been interesting watching the progression of the inoculation.  Really now just a flat red spot.  Slight bump.  I thought it might itch as my mate, who got his at the same time found his; which had a more pronounced bump, itched some.
