If, however, you're saying that you seek out males at the threshold of legal age or below, then, yes, I would encourage you to consider the potential harm you could do to the young person's future life and weigh that against the value of your personal gratification. Only you could then determine whether it would cause you to stop.

Really? That's what you've got? Reread my previous post. It's got nothing to do with me seeking advice. And I'm pretty clear on the nature of this site. My point is that your position was that kids can say no at a very young age, but don't have the experience to say yes until they reach some arbitray age.  But if the question is as I phrased it above, the kid isn't qualified to decide.

The world of sex is not any more violent or turbulent than the world of carbon based life forms. Try a fact or 2 instead of simply stringing together adjectives.

It's complicated because as you said everybody starts being sexually active at different ages. The perfect but unrealistic idea would be for each single person to be somehow evaluated for sexual maturity and give them their individual consent permit, but as I said, it is unrealistic. 

The whole ordeal also depends on cultural and even educational variables. In places where sexuality is most taboo I'd agree the age of consent should be higher since there's less education about sex, thus feeding the taboo, thus making sex ed less common, thus feeding the taboo even more, etc. In places where sexuality is more normalized it could make sense to make it lower since younger people are more educated about the precautions they need to take.

Which brings me to the idea that maybe instead of focusing too much on age of consent, sexual education and normalization should be society's focus?

In Europe most countries have an age of consent of between 14 and 18 with most either 15 or 16. In Holland it's 16, in France 15 for instance (to my knowledge). There are usually restrictions though about the age difference between the partners to prevent abuse. For instance in Portugal it's 14 but having sex with a 14yo when you're 30 is illegal as you're "taking advantage of their inexperience". 

16 seems to be a right age. Most will know what they are doing at that age. I know I did. Although a recent survey found that the age at which teens have sex for the first time has increased and is now at around 18 on average.

But who makes the determination that a child understands what he or she is doing? Certainly neither the child nor the pedophile .... of which (I should not be surprised) there are far too many on this website! So it comes down to a fixed age at which most at least may hopefully have enough experience or knowledge to make a reasoned decision as to their actions. There is no other way that makes sense in this day and age. Knowing what I know now I would never have chosen my actions when I was younger because I did NOT understand the true ramifications of what they were doing to my youth, my attitudes and how they would effect my later years.
