It is -or was, I don't know how it is now- totally different here in NL than in the US. The police did patrol cruising sites sometimes but not to bust the guys having sex but to safeguard. There was no "indecent exposure," i was busted for asking a cop to fuck me, it was just a way to reduce the sentence. i am a nurse and have to explain this every time i get a job because it comes up on background. i could get it expunged because, essentially, i was arrested for being gay... but i'd still have to report it as a healthcare worker, expunged or not.  At the trial, the arresting officer actually found me ahead of the trial and apologized to me for arresting me. i've never had a problem getting a state license to practice or get a job once i explain, but it is pretty embarrassing to have to explain.

This happened about 20 years ago. Though when I was a very young man, I did cruise city parks a lot, it's just not something I have done much once I got past my 20's. But, I was driving past a park on the opposite side of town from where I was living, one day. I had always heard that this park had a parking lot at the back of the park that was very cruisy. He did say that he can't tell me what to do, but that from previous arrests, that the guys that plead guilty would go through a "healthy sex" group course with a social worker for 8 weeks. Pay a hefty fine. But that if all that was completed, the charge would be expunged and I wouldn't have a sex offender record.  Then he told me to go get in my car and get out of the park. 
Sure enough, I paid the very expensive fine. Plead guilty and thank God I don't have a sex offender record. While in the "healthy sex" group of about 2 dozen guys, our arrest stories were discussed. It turned out that the vast majority of us guys were all arrested by the same latino police officer. Turns out that Officer Lopez was the "star" of the vice department. He had been working in vice for 2 years and had the all time record for arresting gay men in parks. He had the good looks, the muscular build and the charm that made guys do exactly what he asked. He asks guys to do as I did and pull their cocks out or ask them if they want to feel his cockbulge?  As soon as they pull out their dicks or put their hand on his crotch, they're under arrest.

Prolly wouldn't make it to court where it happened to me either today (Virginia), i was arrested in '98, and even then things were changing, the cop who arrested me and later apologized seemed genuinely embarrassed (he should have been) and i was charged using a 100 year old law. That probably doesn't even exist anymore.

Sadly a lot of those laws do exist because they have not been rescinded, repealed or declared unconstitutional. I mean who would really fight the law that far through the court system etc. Many people are too embarrassed and want it to go away.

Indiana has park rangers (INDNR) that will look all come-hither and the minute you touch them will slap the cuffs on you and charge you with “assault”. It’s a misdemeanor, but when a place gets a cruisy reputation they stop it. Kentucky seems more relaxed and everybody knows the cruise spots but down near London it got pretty blatant so they just cut down all the brush.  Not that cruising in Kentucky is safe though. Every year a body or two are found in Lake Cumberland near Somerset. Their vehicle burned or disappeared.

Never mind cruising, it’s not even really safe to be gay in parts of Kentucky. This place is so fucking backward even in this day and age (I’m looking at you, Kim Davis) that my nephew, who’s gay as a June picnic, had to drop out of high school from the harassment and finish on a GED.

If there are any cruisy spots in parks in my neck of the woods I’ve never heard about them - and I was a park ranger.
