But the fact that they've been jerks only says something about their business skills - not the quality of their porn. Those are the two best selling sites for me. There's a recent article in the NY Times that's rather fascinating... It's the story of Spencer Cox - one of the leaders of ACT UP back in the day. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/24/fashion/what-really-killed-spencer-cox-aids-activist.html?_r=0 He died in December and his death was a bit of a shock to his friends. After he died they found half-full bottles of HIV meds in his apartment - bottles that were 6 months old. And things weren't particularly bad for him - he was one of the stars of the Oscar nominated documentary "How To Survive A Plague" and he seemed completely normal and OK to his friends. But he stopped taking his meds and apparently didn't talk to anyone about his decision. And as a result his body just stopped working and he died rather suddenly. It's a really sad story. One of his issues was that when the AIDS crisis ended so did much of his purpose in life. He had spent so much time and energy getting ARVs to market, etc. that when he achieved his goal and the crisis went away there wasn't much left for him. While others (like me) had been focusing on their careers, he found that his skillset wasn't really all that great and he wasn't all that employable. Take some time and read the article. It'll make you think... Oh, and he was pretty cute too...

IMHO, that sounds about right... Though I picked the "no age of consent, just increased penalties for rape if the victim is a minor" option in the poll. Personally I think a lot of places the age of consent laws are pretty fucked up and Germany's sounds pretty well balanced.

That's actually a really interesting idea... I could totally see it working. There would be a tribe/pack leader and then a bunch of guys in the pack/tribe. Besides contributing to the workload and finances of the house/tribe/pack, tribe/pack members would be expected to contribute sexually to the tribe/pack and could be voted out if they pulled back sexually.

There are many ways people talk about "enjoying the disease". IMHO, some of them are quite normal others indicate either a form of mental illness or plain stupidity. It was sad. I don't think there's much you can do with that group - it's the drugs talking and they're addicted. Then there are the ones who just have no clue how bad AIDS can be. Young guys today never saw someone really sick from AIDS. They're young and think they're untouchable and they can beat it or that can't be nearly as bad as people say it is. When reality hit them in the gut with a bad OI, they'll wake up and take their meds and probably be just fine.

Huge difference. Regular STDs you can get rid of with a pill and/or a shot and you get them many times over the course of your life. The objective is to get them treated quickly when you get them so you can go back to being STD-free. HIV is completely different - you get it once and it stays with you for life. Hence people want to make an event out of getting it - they want getting it to be memorable. They want to feel in control when they get it. Etc.

I think bug chasing is a logical and rational decision for many guys. If a guy understands that he really like taking loads in anonymous situations, then he's being realistic to acknowledge to himself that he will become HIV+ as a result. What's not a healthy response is to think he can stay neg in that situation or to beat himself up for what he desires sexually. One he understands he will become poz, there are two rational responses. Just be at peace with it and let it happen. Or take control of the situation and enjoy it (since it will only happen once). Bug chasers are essentially just taking control of an unfortunate event in their lives. It's actually a very healthy response to their situation. Now chasing and spreading other STDs - that never makes sense to me.

That reminds me - if you've got a little money ($99) you can do a 23AndMe test and know whether you're resistant or immune to HIV or if you're an HIV controller who can stay off meds for years without any problems. For the more analytical among us, it's data that can help you come to a decision more easily.
