So I have to ask: Did your surgeon know you were a bottom? Did you discuss your future as a bottom before your surgery? I had prostate cancer a number of years ago, in my mid-40's. 99% of people have it removed but I wasn't some 80 year old who was done with my equipment, so I opted for radiation instead in the hopes that I'd preserve function. Even the radiation oncologist told me he would have chosen removal for the certainty of it -- early stage if it's removed while contained, you're cured -- though he thought I'd have a good outcome either way. Sure enough, I'm fine today and can even ejaculate a little bit.

I've thought about this. I was raised Catholic: Grade school, high school, and university (the last was a bit accidental. Long story.) Obviously, the Catholic church wasn't/isn't the most welcoming so I fell away and now consider myself agnostic. In my not-very-gay suburban town, there are two churches (one UCC, one Unitarian) which are openly gay welcoming. The UCC even flies the rainbow flag (but not the US flag) on its flagpole. I've thought about going but haven't thus far. Part of that is that I'd feel hypocritical at the UCC since I'm not a Christian. Unitarians are squishier when it comes to beliefs so that might not be as bad. But old habits die hard; my idea of a religious service is "smells and bells." Watching a livestream, I just didn't get into someone reading an excerpt from Winnie the Pooh. That said, I'm single and have a handful of gay friends (none sexual.) My social anxiety has kind of held me back from trying but, if I ever decide to go, it would strictly be for the purpose of expanding my social -- and ideally sexual -- circle.

It's a noble goal to educate people who are misinformed but, 40 years in, I'd dare say that most people on Grindr know the basics around how HIV gets transmitted. It's a matter of semantics. THEY consider themselves straight. I'd argue if someone was 100% straight, they wouldn't be able to maintain an erection for a guy. It's a matter of the definition used. A HS friend and his husband moved there. They were both in a position where they could work remotely and PV was a lot cheaper than where they moved from. I've had this (hypothetical) conversation with friends: Would you rather be with a trans man (i.e. with a vagina) or woman (with a penis)? It's going to depend on a lot of things. One is age: My refractory period was a lot shorter 40 years ago! Another is the person. If I'm really into/excited by him, I'll tend to bounce back quicker. Speaking as someone in his late 50s, I wouldn't call it ageism any more than it's sexism if you're not attracted to women, or racism if you prefer someone of a certain color.
